Predator: Hunting Grounds Dev Showcases Arcadegeddon For PlayStation 5

The developer of Predator: Hunting Grounds has officially revealed its next game: a colorful multiplayer shooter entitled Arcadegeddon. The game was one of many announcements made during the July 8 PalyStation State of Play event, which also included new details on Deathloop and the upcoming Death Stranding Director’s Cut.

Arcadegeddon is an ever-evolving shooter influenced by The Muppers, Gorillaz, and ’90s punk rock, according to a Sony developer blog post. The game can be played solo or with up to three friends, as players “explore multiple biomes, play mini-games, find hidden chests, and defeat numerous enemy types and boss levels.” The co-op multiplayer mixes PvE and PvP experiences to accommodate a wider range of players, with the best of the best able to earn top spots on the global leaderboard.

Arcadegeddon has a story to suit its bright and colorful aesthetic, with a focus on Gilly’s arcade which features nine gangs to interact with. Each gang leader has their own challenges for players to complete, which will unlock in-game bonuses and perks, including skins and Surge Gauntlet Abilities to help in combat. The game has now released in early access, where it’s planned to stay for at least seven months. The Early Access phase will give developers a chance to take on board player feedback and critique to provide a more robust and complete co-op multiplayer experience at full launch. There will be three biomes (maps) available to explore during the early access phase, with each promising an entirely different look and feel. Five biomes will be included for the game’s launch, which is expected to happen in 2022.

Arcadegeddon is available in early access now on PS5 and PC.
