The trailer for Power Book III: Raising Kanan teases the battle lines being drawn, as the titular character faces off against his own mother. Debuting in 2021 on Starz, with Sascha Penn as the creator, the crime drama is a prequel to Power and the second spinoff in the overall Power franchise. The story is set in the 1990s, following the early years of Kanan Stark and his origins. First played by franchise executive producer, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, he’s portrayed in the prequel by MeKai Curtis.
The trailer for Power Book III: Raising Kanan season 3 has now been unveiled by Starz, previewing the coming tensions that Kenan faces.
New episodes will debut on Friday, December 1. The episodes will drop weekly on Fridays at midnight ET via the Starz app. It will also be available to watch on all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. Raising Kanan season 3 will likewise air on the Starz channel at 8 p.m. on Fridays.

The upcoming season will continue to follow Kanan as he rises up the ranks of the drug world, ultimately becoming the Kanan Stark that’s played by 50 Cent in the original Power series. Raising Kanan season 3 specifically examines its main character evolving from the devoted son of Raquel “Raq” Thomas (Patina Miller) into the eventual crime boss. The trailer offers a glimpse of how the relationship between mother and son shifts.
The prequel’s third outing will pick up in Southside Jamaica Queens, as the Thomas family reels from the Mob’s coordinated attack on Raquel, Marvin (London Brown), and Lou-Lou (Malcolm Mays). After what she’s experienced, Raquel is looking to make a fresh start. Kanan doesn’t believe her claims, with the trailer revealing a tense conversation that the two characters share.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan season 3 will also feature the return of Italian mob boss Stefano (Tony Danza), while also introducing new rivals played by The Wire and Suits alum Wendell Pierce. Other returning actors include Omar Epps as Detective Malcolm Howard, Hailey Kilgore as Jukebox, Joey Bada$$ as Unique, Shanley Caswell as Detective Burke, and Antonio Ortiz as Famous.
