Poster Friday Pt.1: Avatar, The Road & Tons More!

Poster Friday Pt.1: Avatar, The Road & Tons More!

Happy Friday everyone! For our first Friday of of the last month of 2009, and our biggest Poster Friday collection ever (separated into two parts), we’ve again gathered the latest posters to come out for this week’s poster round-up.

I took a holiday last weekend (a rare event) so that means Screen Rant’s wall this week now includes two weeks worth of new one-sheets separated among two posts. This set (part one) includes Star Trek, The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, Cash, Main St., The Electric Slide, The Devil’s Double, The Horseman, Nine, A Single Man, District 13: Ultimatum, The Road, The Lovely Bones, The Wolfman, Avatar, Greenberg and 44 Inch Chest.

We also have a little bonus for Thor.

Let’s get to it.

To start, here’s a cool looking retro poster for Star Trek featuring the original Enterprise that started it all. The image comes from Star Trek: Art of the Film.

The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Evans. This 1920s style film plays in select theaters in New York and Los Angeles on December 30, 2009.

Collider put up a bunch of posters in their American Film Market coverage and I’ve picked out five good ones to share here.

Here’s part one of five for the movie Cash starring two actors I love: Sean Bean and Chris Hemsworth. Hemsworth of course is the lucky man playing Thor and the lead in the Red Dawn remake, who can currently be seen in Star Trek and A Perfect Getaway.

Part two of five: Main St. starring Colin Firth, Ellen Burstyn, Patricia Clarkson and Orlando Bloom. Remember Orlando Bloom?

Part three of five is for The Electric Slide starring Ewan McGregor and Carey Mulligan.

Part four of five:  The Devil’s Double

I don’t know anything about this flick other than it’s based in pre-war Bagdad in 1989.

Part five of five: The Horseman

The one quote there says it all: “A Very Badass Revenge Flick.”

InContention but up a one-sheet for A Single Man which stars Colin Firth and Julianne Moore.

Martial Arts and Parkour are what District 13: Ultimatum is about. Here’s the film’s new poster – the movie releases in the U.S. in February and stars Cyril Raffaelli and David Belle.

A new one-sheet for the Denzel Washington starrer, The Book of Eli. The film also stars Mila Kunis and Gary Oldman. From the trailers and the action scenes in them, I find myself not excited about this.

A very nice poster for James Cameron’s Avatar which doesn’t have any text or credits on it. It’s more of an artwork one-sheet that I’d like to have on my wall.

Avatar finally debuts two weeks today, on December 18th.

Ben Stiller is Greenberg poster from IMPA.

That’s it for Part 1 of this weeks two-part Poster Friday Series. But what’s a Poster Friday feature without a bonus?

For this week’s special, Here’s a fan-made poster/image of Chris Hemsworth as Thor. Thanks to /Film for the find on this work by Josh MC. This is the same artist who did that incredible render of Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern when that big announcement was made.

If you missed it, our last Poster Friday added the following new posters to Screen Rant’s wall:  Avatar, Precious, Crazy on the Outside, Daybreakers, Lost, Salt, Alice in Wonderland, Crazy Heart, Kick-Ass, The Yellow Handkerchief, Caprica, All About Evil, The Wolfman, Ong Bak 3, The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, From Paris with Love and Wonderful World.

We also had a some neat stylistic posters for some popular television shows.

What’s your favorite of this week’s first batch of one-sheets? I would have to say that my favorites this week are the Avatar Poster and the retro Star Trek one.

Check out Part two of this week’s Poster Friday feature for the more recent posters (including two from Iron Man 2 and a new Kick-Ass one-sheet) and come back next Friday for more!
