Gigantamax Eevee has returned to the world of Galar in Pokemon: Sword and ShieldThis guide will help players capture one. Pokemon: Sword and Shield have continued to cycle in new Pokemon into the game via updates. Starter Pokemon like Bulbasaur and Squirtle were initially unavailable when the game released but were later available by transferring from Pokemon Home. A major DLC is approaching later this year, bringing over 200 older Pokemon for players to capture while completing new challenges in the Galar region. Amongst one of the new Pokemon available for capture would be the elusive Gigantamax Eevee. This guide will help players capture one.

Gigantamax Eevee was only previously available for owners of Pokemon: Let’s Go Eevee. By having a save file of the game on your Nintendo Switch, players could speak to an NPC in the game and it will reward them with an Eevee that can transform into its Gigantamax form. This was previously one of the only ways to get the creature. Now for a limited time, Gigantamax Eevee is available as a Raid Battle boss for players to team up and take down. Once the player defeats it in battle, they will have a chance to capture it. Here’s how players can get Gigantamax Eevee in Pokemon: Sword and Shield.

Gigantamax Eevee will only be available within Max Raid Battles from Monday, May 18 at 8 p.m. Eastern to Monday, May 25 at 8 p.m. Eastern. Make sure to update the spawns by opening up options and going to Mystery Gift and selecting “Get the Wild Area News”. During this time, Gigantamax Eevee will likely spawn in a battle den in the Wild Area. Search around for a red or purple light. This will also likely replace many other Pokemon in the spawns. Considering this is for a limited time, the chances of running into one have greatly increased. Make sure to bring along a powerful Fighting-type Pokemon to make quick work of Eevee in combat. Defeat it for a chance to capture it.

Pokemon: Sword and Shield are receiving an upcoming expansion later this year split into two different pieces. The first will release this June while the second is scheduled for release this upcoming Winter. This new content will bring players back to the Galar region with new legendary Pokemon to capture and exclusive story elements not found in the base game. It’s exciting to explore the region again with new stuff to do and this is the first time the series has ever done paid DLC for a mainline title. This is a sign of Pokemon taking the steps to grow and evolve alongside many other games.

Pokemon: Sword and Shield are available now on the Nintendo Switch.
