Pokémon Legends: Arceus Lets You Ride Pokémon Mounts On Land, Sea & Air

The latest Pokémon Presents livestream has detailed how players will be able to explore the world in Pokémon Legends: Arceus using different Pokémon as mounts to travel over land, sea, and air. First revealed back in February, Pokémon Legends: Arceus is an open-world game set long before the rest of the series and will feature a heavier emphasis on action-based gameplay.

The Pokémon Company has previously revealed very little about the upcoming game other than the fact that it is set in the past and will have distinctive gameplay compared to previous Pokémon games. Fans also know that the title will be set in the Sinnoh region and that three starters from other areas will be available, including Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott. However, a spokesperson for the company revealed recently that more Pokémon Legends: Arceus news would be revealed in the near future.

During today’s livestreamed Pokémon Presents, The Pokémon Company has explained how players will be able to use Pokémon to help them explore the in-game world of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. The footage clearly shows characters using a variety of Pokémon to get around quickly and more easily. This included riding land-based creatures as mounts similar to horses but also flying and water Pokémon to travel over sea and through the air. Check out the official livestream video below:

While other games have utilized Pokémon as a means of transport, the action seems far more involved and will seemingly give players more control in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Alongside the information about mounts in the game, the Pokémon Presents stream also detailed some of the regional forms that will feature in Pokémon Legends: Arceus when it launches next year. There will be unique Hisuian versions of the Fire/Rock-type Pokémon Growlithe and the Flying/Psychic-type Braviary. Meanwhile, the game will also include a new Water/Ghost-type evolution of Basculegion and the Normal/Psychic-type Wyrdeer.

The fact that Pokémon Legends: Arceus promises to include some new features not previously seen in previous Pokémon games is promising. The ability to directly control Pokémon as mounts to travel across a variety of terrains will certainly add a new element that has been present before and help evolve the series further, something that fans have been wanting for some time.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus releases on January 28, 2022 for Nintendo Switch.
