Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How To Get Scizor (Or Evolve Scyther)

Pokémon Legends: Arceus – How To Get Scizor (Or Evolve Scyther)

One of the best Pokémon that players can get in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is Scizor, a Bug- and Steel-type Pokémon that relies heavily on its physically offensive capabilities. Scizor is the evolved form of Scyther and was originally the only Pokémon that Scyther could evolve into. Thanks to the addition of a new item in Pokémon Legends: Arceus called the Black Augurite, players can choose to evolve Scyther into Kleavor instead of Scizor, though that might not be the best decision.

Kleavor may be appealing because of its status as a new Pokémon, but in reality, Scizor is still the better option in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. As a Bug- and Rock-type Pokémon, Kleavor only has two types of resistances and three types of weaknesses. Conversely, Scizor has eight different types of resistances, one immunity, and only one weakness overall. The difference in attack power between Scizor and Kleavor is minimal, so the defensive trade-off is, arguably, not worth including a Kleavor on the team in Pokémon Legends: Arceus over a Scizor.

Thanks to several changes in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, there are actually a few different ways that players can obtain a Scizor. In fact, thanks to the Space-Time Distortions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Scizor can actually be captured in the wild. Space-Time Distortions are unique zones in any area of the Hisui region where Pokémon are transported through time and space to that area, for a limited time. In the Alabaster Icelands, players can find Scizor inside the Space-Time Distortions, though it isn’t a guarantee that Scizor will appear.

How To Evolve Scyther Into Scizor In Pokémon Legends: Arceus

As mentioned above, Scyther can also be evolved into Scizor in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, though not through the same method as past games have included. Traditionally, the only way to evolve a Scyther into Scizor is by trading Scyther while it is holding the Metal Coat. However, since Pokémon can no longer use held items in Legends: Arceus, players use the Metal Coat on a Scizor as if it were an evolution stone. In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, exchanging Merit Points, exploring Space-Time Distortions, and catching Steel-type Pokémon are all methods that can be used to acquire the Metal Coat for zero Poké Dollars. Occasionally, Ginter may offer the Metal Coat as the “Metallic Spread” for 8,000 Poké Dollars.

Since Scizor is a physically strong Pokémon, players will want to ensure they find one with an Adamant nature so its Attack stat is boosted at the cost of Special Attack. Finding a Scizor on its own with an Adamant nature can be challenging in Pokémon Legends: Arceus can be challenging since the Space-Time Distortions are time-sensitive. Fortunately, there is an abundance of Scyther in the Grandtree Arena located in the Obsidian Fieldlands. Players may even be able to catch an Alpha Scyther in Pokémon Legends: Arceus there with an Adamant nature, allowing them to evolve it into a massively oversized Scizor.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus is available now on Nintendo Switch.
