Pokemon Go: How To Evolve Eevee

Pokemon Go: How To Evolve Eevee

Pokemon Go features the iconic Eevee, a Pokemon with over 7 different evolutions. This guide will help players evolve Eevee to all of its different forms. Pokemon Go released a few Summers with the first original 151 Pokemon. For a while, these were the only Pokemon available in the game. It would take several months for the developers to release the second generation of Pokemon. Amongst the first generation, Pokemon was Eevee. Eevee has been a fan-favorite in the franchise since the very beginning. Even recently with the release of Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee, Eevee takes the starring role as the trainer’s partner Pokemon. Trainers can customize their Eevee with clothing and their Eevee began with perfect stats right from the get-go. When Pokemon Home was introduced, it was announced that players will be unable to bring along their Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee or Let’s Go Pikachu mascot Pokemon over to other titles. This is due to these Pokemon learning powerful moves and containing unusually high stats for these Pokemon. Players can bring along every other Pokemon, but the main mascot has to stay behind. Aside from the games, plushies, merchandising, and the Pokemon anime all show how popular Eevee is. The main reason for this Pokemon success outside of how adorable it is in its unique ability to evolve into several different Pokemon. This guide will help players unlock every evolution for Eevee in Pokemon Go.

Eevee has the ability in the Pokemon series to turn into 8 different Pokemon. During the beginning of the series, this was only limited to 3. In Pokemon Gold and Silver, two more evolutions were added with Pokemon Gold and Silver. Another 2 evolutions were later added in the fourth generation games, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Lastly, one more evolution was added in Pokemon X and Y to introduce the new Fairy type Pokemon. As Pokemon Go continues to develop new generations for trainers to capture, the game is currently only up to the fifth generation. This means only 7 of the available 8 Eevee evolutions can currently be achieved. Most likely the final evolution, Sylveon will be added as they add the 6th generation Pokemon, but this guide will focus on evolving the current 7 evolutions.

How To Get All Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go: How To Evolve Eevee

Each Eevee evolution requires that the player has at least 25 candies for Eevee. Candies can be found by capturing Eevee’s in the wild or by walking with Eevee as their partner. After a few kilometers, Eevee will pick up one candy. Let’s begin with the first three Eevee Evolutions in Pokemon Go, Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon. To get the specific one of these, players can nickname their Eevee a certain name in order to get it. Here is the list of names for the appropriate evolution. It’s important to mention, this method can only be used once, after that, different methods are required for certain evolutions.

  • Vaporeon: Rainer
  • Jolteon: Sparky
  • Flareon: Pyro
  • Espeon: Sakura
  • Umbreon: Tamao
  • Leafeon: Linnea
  • Glaceon: Rea

Once again, this method only works on one of these Pokemon, here are how to get the other 6. As for Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon, after the nickname method, there’s no official way to get these Pokemon assigned. When evolving an Eevee, it will now be completely random. So if players are missing 2 out of the 3, keep evolving Eevees and hope to land on the one the player does not have. This is only for the first three though. The rest of the Eevee evolutions have their own methods of achieving.

Umbreon and Espeon have a very specific way in order to evolve them. For each, the player must have an Eevee as their buddy and walk a total of 10km with them. To decide between Umbreon and Espeon, the player must select when to evolve them. Evolve Eevee at night to get Umbreon. Evolve Eevee during the day to get Espeon. Once again, these Pokemon need to be walked at least 10km for this method to work.

Leafeon and Glaceon also have a very specific method of evolving them. These evolutions require a specific weather lure in order to evolve. Place down the Mossy Lure and evolve Eevee to get a Leafeon. Make sure to check the silhouette beforehand to make sure the lure is working. Using the Glacial Lure and evolving Eevee will give the trainer a Glaceon. These items can be pretty rare to come across, so in order to pick them up quickly, they can be purchased for 200 coins each in the shop. Players can gather coins by defeating and maintaining gyms. If the player is in a time crunch, they can also put in real-world money in order to purchase these items. The final Eevee evolution, Sylveon, is currently not available in the game. When the sixth generation of Pokemon makes its debut into Pokemon Go, the method to achieve this Pokemon will be revealed. This is how to get all the active Eevee evolutions in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go is continuously updating with new Pokemon every couple of months or so. The fifth-generation was recently implemented into the game, so it may be a while before the next generation comes along. Also, the entire fifth-generation of Pokemon hasn’t been released yet into the game, as they are feeding new Pokemon little by little through updates. Also, Pokemon Go is beginning to catch up to the mainline series of games with the generational releases. Pokemon Go is currently on fifth-gen while the mainline series is currently sitting at the eighth generation. It is unknown what the Pokemon Company will do when Pokemon Go catches up to the mainline titles, as it will become possible to catch every Pokemon to ever exist. To combat releasing new Pokemon, Niantic has created events around raids for previous generations. In these raids, players can potentially capture shiny Pokemon of legendary or mythical creatures. Also, introducing new in-game events like Go Team Rocket as a challenge for players to conquer. While Pokemon Go isn’t nearly as popular as it was when it first released, it still maintains a solid fanbase of hardcore trainers ready to get out there and catch them all.

Pokemon Go is available now on Mobile Devices.
