Pokémon GO: Every December 2021 Spotlight Hour (& What They Do)

Pokémon GO: Every December 2021 Spotlight Hour (& What They Do)

December 2021 features a new set of Spotlight Hours in Pokémon GO. To kick off the month of December, Niantic has released its plans for the entire month in Pokémon GO. This includes their entire Raid Hour, Community Day, Research Breakthrough, and Spotlight Hour schedules.

Spotlight Hours are events that happen every week in Pokémon GO. When a Spotlight Hour is active, a single Pokémon will have its spawn rate drastically increased for that hour. This means players are given the chance to earn more Candy, XP, and Stardust from catching these Pokémon. Each Spotlight Hour also features its own additional bonus. During the Wooloo Spotlight Hour, for example, trainers were given double the XP for capturing Pokémon.

For December 2021, there will be four different Spotlight Hour events. The Pokémon to be featured include Electabuzz, Magmar, Snover, and Cubchoo. Spotlight Hour will take place every Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time. The extra bonus is also only active for an hour. These are the benefits players can expect from participating in Pokémon GO‘s December Spotlight Hours.

Since there are only four Tuesdays in December 2021, there will only be four Pokémon GO Spotlight Hours. These are:

  • December 7: This Spotlight Hour will be dedicated to Electabuzz and will offer players double the candy for transferring Pokémon. This was the same bonus that was active as the Skwovet Spotlight Hour. Electabuzz’s Shiny form also has a chance of appearing.
  • December 14: This Spotlight Hour will be dedicated to Magmar and will offer players double XP for evolving Pokémon. Magmar has the chance to appear Shiny.
  • December 21: This Spotlight Hour will be dedicated to Snover and will offer the player double the XP for catching Pokémon. Snover has the chance to appear Shiny.
  • December 28: This Spotlight Hour is dedicated to Cubchoo and will offer the player double the candy for catching Pokémon. Cubchoo’s Shiny form also has the chance to appear.

Using Lucky Eggs during this event, especially during the Magmar and Snover Spotlight Hours, will help players level up quickly in Pokémon GO. Additionally, players looking to add Magmortar and Electivire to their Pokémon GO collection will need to earn enough candy to level up Magmar and Electabuzz. Each requires at least 125 candy to reach its final form from its base. Players can also use Pinap Berries to double the candy that is rewarded at the end of an encounter to make the grind for resources even more effective.

Pokémon GO is available now on iOS and Android.
