Pokémon Go: 10 Pokémon That Never Get Old To Catch

It is very hard to believe that Pokémon Go is set to hit its 5th anniversary this July. When this game first came out, it was truly the talk of the town, as virtually everybody gave it a try. Today, it is still extremely popular, especially amongst individuals who love the franchise immensely. Since the start of the game, there have been many generations of Pokémon added. This, in turn, allows the game to continue to stay fresh. There are even more on the way, as well.

Yet, when looking at the specific Pokémon that are currently in the game now, there are a few that are continuing to stand out to the player. These are the ones that gamers want to obtain as much as possible. There is something about them that makes them extremely fun to catch, too, whether it be how good they are or their overall rarity. That is not a knock on other less popular Pokémon, but there are just some that should be classified as the best of the bunch.

Charizard

Pokémon Go: 10 Pokémon That Never Get Old To Catch

Although catching Charmander never gets old, too, there is something even more special when finding a rare Charizard in the wild. This is one of the most iconic Pokémon from Generation I, after all.

It also requires the player to have a lot of skill, as it is a very challenging Pokémon to successfully capture. It is one of the most satisfying feelings when getting one without evolution, due to its rarity.

Ursaring

Ursaring from the Pokémon animated series

Finding Ursaring in the wild is not necessarily common, but that is okay. This is due to the fact that it evolves from the ever so adorable, Teddiursa, which is easy to find. In the game, the player just needs 50 candies to evolve it, too.

Ursaring is a very powerful Pokémon in the game, so possessing as many of them as possible is a good idea. It will allow the player to have great success when battling, especially because it’s a Normal-type.

Chimchar

Chimchar from Pokémon Go

When Generation IV hit this game, fans were elated because of the arrival of Chimchar. Chimchar is easily the most memorable starting Pokémon from this region, which makes sense. It is a monkey that literally shoots fire.

However, another massive reason why this is a Pokémon that gamers cannot get enough of is because of its evolution cycle. Its final form is Internape, which is one of the strongest Pokémon in the entire game.

Snorlax

Snorlax in Pokémon Go

Snorlax is a Pokémon that’s been a fan favorite since the start of the series. It is hard not to love this Pokémon, as it is not only very strong but also humorous with its appearance.

In this game, it is impossible not to feel excited when coming across one. They often come with very high CP, so catching them does take some time. Yet, when successful, they always are a welcomed addition to the Pokédex.

Togepi

Togepi from the Pokémon animated series

Togepi is not a very strong Pokémon in this game, but it is always great catching one. However, obtaining this Pokémon actually poses a bit of a challenge, as they are not currently in the wild at all.

Hatching them from an egg or trading with a friend are the only ways to get them. Thus, this challenge adds significant value when a player finally gets one. Also, with it being one of the most beloved Pokémon from its generation, it is a must-have.

Gyarados

Gyarados in Pokémon Go

Not only is Gyarados one of the coolest Pokémon in the entire game, but the time it takes to get one can be quite long. This is due to the fact that it takes 500 Magikarp candies to evolve. That’s right, 500 candies!

Unless Pokémon Go has another Magikarp Community Day, it does take a chunk of time to get them. Therefore, with the process being so long and Gyarados being an extremely powerful Pokémon, it will never get old getting one.

Totodile

Totodile from Pokémon Go

When looking back at Generation II, it is apparent that Totodile is one of the most memorable. It is easy to see why, as it is a rather cute pocket monster, while also having a humorous personality in the anime series.

Also, what makes it such a good Pokémon to catch in this game is that it turns into Feraligatr. Seeing as how the latter is one of the strongest in the game, it is always smart to stock up on Totodiles.

Hitmonchan

Hitmonchan from the Pokémon television series

Hitmonchan is a Fighting-type Pokémon, so finding it in the wild is extremely difficult. Before Tyrogue was in the game, this Pokémon was almost impossible to get.

This is an underrated Pokémon in the game, in terms of its overall power and success in battle. This really adds to the reasoning as to why catching a Hitmonchan will always be exciting.

Torchic

Torchic shooting fire in the Pokémon animated series

Torchic is one of the first Pokémon in Generation III, which automatically raises its value. It also does not hurt that it is extremely adorable in appearance, while also having pretty decent stats in its original form.

Yet, the importance of catching this Pokémon magnifies when remembering that it eventually turns into the complete powerhouse, Blaziken. Therefore, when a Torchic appears in the wild, it is essential to go for it each time.

Ditto

Ditto in Pokémon Go

Ditto is a Pokémon that adds a little shock value to gamers. For example, there is no better feeling than seeing a boring Pidgey change into a Ditto. This is the case with really any of the very common Pokémon.

Due to the fact that Ditto’s appearances come at entirely random times, it is always a nice surprise when catching one. They are not very strong in the game, sure, but they are a step up from the rather boring Pokémon.
