On Pretty Little Liars, the main characters were taunted and tormented by someone called A. At different times throughout the show, these characters told their parents, significant others, cops, therapists and others about A, but as the title suggested, there was a lot of lying, and there were a lot of secrets.
Still, fans were left wondering far too many times… What were these parents thinking? Why did they make some of these decisions? How could they have let some of those things happen? And down below, 10 of those very moments are listed out for everyone to see again.
How Surprising It Was That No One Ever Moved Away
To some, an obvious solution to the A problem would have been to move away. However, A would have still found ways to torture the girls, and the girls would not have had each other to lean on in every way possible.
Moving was brought up now and then by a couple of parents for different reasons, yet it never happened. In fact, these parents never really made any big and bold moves to fight off or stop A!
The Montgomerys’ Reaction To Aria & Ezra
Not every parental figure is going to like every boyfriend or girlfriend their kid brings home. And not every parent finds out that their daughter is in a relationship with her teacher! Yet that is exactly what Byron and Ella Montgomery were told, as Aria and Ezra fell in love.
Were they happy? No. Were threats made? Yes. But did Ezria still happen and end in a wedding? It sure did!
All The Secrets The Hastings Kept From Everyone, Including Their Kids
Everyone has their secrets, and that is part of what made this television series so exciting. The people who had the most secrets, though, would have probably been Veronica and Peter Hastings. From Peter cheating and having a son to the fact that these two weren’t Spencer’s birth parents, there was so much drama in this family!
While there are some things that parents may need to keep from their kiddos, Spencer was obviously mature enough to handle the truth. But her parents kept on lying and hiding, causing more and more trouble.
How Ashley Marin Handled Hanna’s Shoplifting
Ashley Marin was a single mother, meaning she had to make all the parenting decisions by herself. Therefore, when Hanna was caught shoplifting, this is how she decided to fix things: by sleeping with Detective Wilden.
It may have worked in a weird way, but it, of course, led to far more issues. And while no one is perfect, this was not exactly setting the best example for Hanna.
Pam Fields Breaking Up Emily & Maya
When these girls were honest with their loved ones, it was not always an easy situation. For instance, Emily came out to her parents, and she brought Maya home… and then it was discovered that Maya used drugs recreationally.
After Pam Fields learned about all of this, Maya ended up being shipped off to a weird camp, which sort of broke this couple up. While she may have just been trying to protect her daughter, she did not handle any of this too well.
The Number Of Times These Girls Were Left Unsupervised
Imagine having a child and hearing just once that someone was sending them not-so-nice texts. Imagine having a child and learning that one of their best friends went missing and was possibly murdered. Imagine having a child and finding out that they were in the hospital or arrested. This and so much more happened, and still, the Liars were left alone again and again and again!
Byron Montgomery Being Blackmailed By Ali
Another parent that had an affair was Byron, as he was involved with a woman named Meredith. Aria and Ali even caught these two in the act. Therefore, Aria was forced to keep this secret from her brother and mother, while Ali used the information to blackmail Byron.
The fact that he messed around with someone else… the fact that he brought his daughter into it… the fact that he let a high schooler push him around… There were so many issues with this plot point.
The Fact That Jessica DiLaurentis Buried Her Daughter Alive
Of course, this dramatic story started with Alison vanishing, and it was later learned that Jessica, her own mother, buried her in the backyard. Oh, and Ali was alive while it was happening.
Jessica did this in order to protect another one of her kids, CeCe, but still… This was probably the biggest parenting mistake, because how on earth could someone do that, whether they thought they were gone or not and whether it was out of love or not?!
Everything About Ken DiLaurentis & CeCe’s Relationship
Speaking of CeCe, she had an interesting relationship with her father, Ken. She was born a male, she got into some trouble when she was a child (like putting baby Ali in a hot bath), and she ended up in Radley. Then, Ken thought she had passed away, and even if that were not the case, it did not seem like he ever wanted anything to do with her.
Is parenting always easy? Are there some things that are hard to process? Will every relationship come with its quirks? Yes, but this father’s ways were still questioned.
The Wine Moms
Last but not least, there were the wine moms. During the girls senior year, they had a makeshift prom in Spencer’s barn. Of course, they ended up sneaking out and getting swept up in dram, all while their mothers, who were drinking wine, were locked in a basement!
Accidents may happen, everything may have worked out, and this scene may have been super memorable, but it still featured some not-so-great parenting decisions.
