PlayStation Extra and Premium Membership Wishlist: 10 Best Classic Games Redditors Want To See

PlayStation Extra and Premium Membership Wishlist: 10 Best Classic Games Redditors Want To See

PS Plus fans recently got the word from Sony that they will finally be offering their service similar to GamePass and Nintendo Switch Online Membership. PS Plus will introduce three tiers and as well as their usual offering of monthly games, cloud saves, and online play, they will also give gamers a chance to relive many classic games from their library.

But among the nearly 400 titles for PlayStation Plus Extra and the over 700 games that PlayStation Plus Premium will offer sometime in June, what games do fans want to see? While only a few have been revealed, many gamers speculated what they want to see and compiled their wishlists to convince them to sign up for these new, additional tiers.

Persona 5

PS5 owners could relive and enjoy some of the greatest games from the PS4 library with the PlayStation Plus Collection. However, Reddit user Ajayu says that “PlayStation Plus Collection loses its first game, Persona 5,” one of PS4’s most critically acclaimed and beloved titles.

But with the new PS Plus tiers, it might be able to make a beloved comeback. Better yet, fans and newcomers alike might be treated to Persona 5 Royal, the enhanced and improved version of the original with their PS Plus Extra tier subscription.

Unchartered 2

Regarded as one of the best PlayStation franchises of all time, Unchartered saw treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he goes on globe-trotting adventures and unlocks the truth behind some of the greatest historical adventures. In his second game, Drake went on a grand journey as he survived a train crash, explored the Himalayas, and reunited with Elena Fisher.

In a poll created by [deleted], they made a list for their “PS Plus Games Wishlist” and included several titles, including Watch Dogs, The Walking Dead Season 1, and Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma. But with the PS3 classic included in the Premium tier, hopefully, fans will be able to relive this classic adventure soon.

Sly Cooper Trilogy

Sly Cooper 20th Anniversary September 2022 PlayStation State Of Play Rumors

Before Sucker Punch created the Infamous games and Ghost of Tsushima, they were responsible for the Sly Cooper games back on the PS2. The cartoonish stealth game spawned a trilogy on the console that saw Sly and his gang try to steal from corrupt and dangerous criminals.

In the comment section of hybroid’s post about the “700+ games” coming to the service in June, many shared their thoughts and games they would like to see. ZephixVI had a simple yet effective reply that simply states “Just let me play Sly Cooper.” Let’s just hope that Sony eventually does.

Twisted Metal

Twisted Metal New Game TV Series Report

It’s been ten years since fans of the Twisted Metal games entered the chaotic and destructive vehicle-based combat world and the insane drivers who take part. But the original games back on the PS1 have remained one of the most beloved by those that enjoyed other PS1 games with the best replay value.

In another comment in hybroid’s post, sw1ff2 expressed some of the titles that they would like to see. Among them, they “want to know if Max Payne 2 and Twisted Metal will be on this” service. And with over 700 titles coming soon to PlayStation Plus, these two could make their comeback.

Dragon Quest VIII

In a Redditor’s pole, yashwanthjoey asked “which PS Plus tier you’re going to get?” with a majority voting for PS Plus Essential. But one of the commentators, banjotheshark, did say that “if they have Dragon Quest 3-8 and Persona 1-4 I’ll get premium” and it looks like the nostalgic factor has played a big part in some of these choices.

While Persona 4 would be a great inclusion from the Vita collection, Dragon Quest VIII was originally released on the PS2 as a console exclusive for many years before it was eventually ported onto the 3DS. The series was associated with Nintendo and so seeing a game from the series appearing on Sony’s second console with positive reviews might be a great addition for both JRPG and PS2 fans.

Drakengard

The protagonist, Zero, from the game Drakengard 3

In the comment section from another user on yashwanthjoey’s poll, someone mentioned perhaps one of the lesser-known titles on this list. “Unless the PS2 options include Drakengard and Drakengard 2, I’ll probably stick with what I have” according to r3verendmill3r.

Developed by Cavia, Drakengard is a JRPG trilogy that was released on the PS2 and PS3. The games received mostly positive reviews and while they may not be as widely recognized compared to other JRPG series like Final Fantasy and Persona, Drakengard did build a cult following over the years, although many might pick other obscure JRPGs considered the best to try first.

Armored Core

In bestjedi22’s post, they asked other Redditors “what PlayStation Plus tier will you subscribe to?” There were several options for everyone to vote for and many expressed their opinions in the comment section.

The premium tier would be astralhunt’s pick and said that games “like Army Men and Armored Core and The Legends of Dragoon are irreplaceable, and each one of these are prolly already worth half the subscription of PS+ Premium.” With the original Armored Core being a PS1 classic title, hopefully, fans like astralhunt will be able to play it once again.

Red Dead Redemption

Perhaps one of the less talked about elements of the new tiers that Sony will introduce to their subscription service is that the Premium Tier will include streaming for PCs as mentioned by Elreyleon. With some titles from the PS4 now being available on PC as well as the console, it was only a matter of time before more options for PC gamers would be included.

In the comment section of this post, FelopianTubinator was “hoping for some breakthrough in backward compatibility.” One of the games they were hoping to see was one of Rockstar Games’ best-ranked games on Metacritic, Red Dead Redemption. But with their disappointment, this brilliant title will have to “stay PS3/Xbox 360 only” for the time being.

Metal Gear Solid Collection

Metal Gear Solid 3

Perhaps regarded as Hideo Kojima’s finest piece of work is the acclaimed Metal Gear Solid series. Spanning across multiple generations of PlayStation home and handheld consoles, fans of the beloved series followed Solid Snake and Big Boss as they stealthed their way through enemy basis and encountered some of gaming’s most rewarding boss battles.

PlayStationGameplay’s post sparked a lot of comments about the games they want to see. Bhalzard said they want some “PS3 and PSP games. Would like to see Metal Gear Solid Collection.” Whether it’s the entire series or the HD remasters that were released for the PS3 and Vita, there’s no denying that more Solid Snake wouldn’t be a bad thing.

The Legend of Dragoon

Developed by Japan Studios, The Legend of Dragoon was released back in 1999 in Japan before it reached North America the year after for the PS1. The system featured many JRPGs that gained massive or cult followings, some of which are still sought-after today by collectors.

Another comment was written on PlayStationGameplay’s post about the 700+ games, MyWorkComputerReddit “will pay for nostalgia. Give me The Legend of Dragoon!” With this and many classic games published by Sony over the years, let’s hope that this will be among the PS1 games added for Premium tier subscribers.
