The Dark Phoenix is one of the strongest villains in Marvel Comics, and in a new cosplay from KyrieFox, her incredible powers come to life. In the look, the talented cosplayer brings Jean Grey back to life, as the Phoenix Force embraces its former host once again. The costume is paired with a superb backdrop of the fiery cosmic creature. The entire ensemble is ripped right out of the comic books.
Jean Grey is one of the X-Men’s founding members, as the hero is a powerhouse thanks to her telepathic and telekinetic abilities. However, Jean Grey famously became corrupted during the events of the Dark Phoenix Saga, after merging with the mighty Phoenix Force. However, after initially using her powers for good, Jean would soon become the Dark Phoenix, becoming one of the greatest villains ever. She consumed an entire star system (killing five billion lives) to satisfy the hunger of the entity. Many heroes and villains have wielded the force since Jean Grey. But, in 2005’s X-Men: Phoenix – Endsong miniseries by Greg Pak, Greg Land, and Matt Ryan, the Phoenix Force would resurrect Jean Grey and bond with her once again.
On Reddit, cosplayer KyrieFox shared her fiery recreation of the Dark Phoenix. The look brings the Phoenix Force-powered villain to life as Jean Grey stands before the cosmic entity. The comic-accurate cosplay features Jean’s red hair and features a red bodysuit with the golden Phoenix Logo on the chest. The costume is accented with long gold gloves and boots and a gold sash around her waist. The giant Phoenix behind her makes the look stand out even more.

The Dark Phoenix Saga from the pages of Uncanny X-Men by Chris Claremont and John Byrne is one of the best single arcs in comic history. X-Men: Phoenix – Endsong proved to be a worthy follow-up more than 25 years later. It’s a shame there hasn’t been a great live-action adaptation of The Dark Phoenix Saga, as neither X-Men: The Last Stand nor X-Men: Dark Phoenix did the iconic Marvel storyline or Jean Grey justice.
