Warning! This article contains spoilers for Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6 and for the original Percy Jackson book series!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6 continues to explore Percy’s nightmares only this time with a twist: who was The Voice speaking to? Since the beginning of the show, the mysterious being known only as The Voice has been taunting Percy Jackson in nightmares, begging the question of who he is and what he wants with the titular hero. These nightmares continued in Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6, though in a notably different way than before.

This time, Percy’s nightmarish Voice takes the form of the headmaster who expelled him from Yancy Academy as he is one of the negatively authoritative voices in Percy’s life. This saw the return of an old member of Percy Jackson and the Olympians‘ cast while also hinting at The Voice’s plan. In the dream, The Voice was speaking to the person who stole the master bolt for him and teased a war to come, as well as his plans to turn Percy into one of his Greek mythological minions.

The reveal of why Percy’s nightmares were so different in Percy Jackson episode 6 comes from a conversation between Percy and Annabeth. Percy mentions to his friend that, in previous instances shown in various episodes of Percy Jackson season 1, The Voice seems as if it is invading Percy’s dreams. However, Percy states that this time it was different in that he was eavesdropping on The Voice’s dreams.

This explains why other people were in the dream and why it was in a different location than normal. Usually, The Voice invades Percy’s dream and takes him to a barren, sandy location. This time, the dream took place somewhere else and involved The Voice speaking to a mysterious person, later revealed to be the person who stole Zeus’ master bolt: the Lightning Thief.

The dream sequence found in Percy Jackson episode 6 means that it presents a huge mystery: who else is The Voice talking to? In Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6, Percy and Annabeth assume it is Clarisse as they suspect her of stealing the master bolt. However, as is known from the books, Luke was actually the Lightning Thief who stole the bolt for Kronos. Therefore, it is Luke who The Voice was talking to in Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6.

This was naturally hidden in Percy Jackson episode 6 as the mystery of the Lightning Thief is yet to be revealed. That said, Luke’s motivations for stealing the bolt come from his hatred for Hermes meaning Percy Jackson episode 6 still provided some foreshadowing to this reveal. Several elements of Hermes’ story in the episode centered on his mistreatment of Luke, teasing Luke being revealed as the thief of Zeus’ master bolt later in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1.
