Percy Jackson Season 2: Logan Lerman Responds To Possible Franchise Return

Logan Lerman responds to if he would be open to appearing in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Lerman rose to prominence when he played the titular role in the 2010 movie Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, an adaptation of the novel The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. After a sequel, Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters in 2013, the film series was cancelled, with the television reboot hitting Disney+ in December 2023.

Speaking with Access Online, Lerman was asked about a potential return to the franchise in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2. Reacting to the Disney+ adaptation of the novels, which Riordan is involved with, Lerman said “I haven’t seen it yet. I do want to see it though, and it looks really good.He also refused to rule out the possibility of a return to the franchise in some capacity.

I mean, maybe. I’m open to things.

Lerman still has an affinity among many of the fans of the movies and novels, and it seems likely that viewers would welcome a return to the franchise. Despite the character of Percy Jackson being recast by Walker Scobell, there is no question that Lerman is inextricably tied to the role, which could see him appear in the TV show in some capacity in the future. While the Percy Jackson season 2 storylines have yet to be confirmed, there are many directions the show could go.

Though Sea of Monsters is a great book in the Percy Jackson series, the show has an opportunity to delve more deeply into its underdeveloped stories.

Adapting a TV show from a novel series that has already had movie adaptations can often be a difficult exercise because there is a need for the show to pay homage and respect to what has come before it, while also thriving as its own entity. With Riordan actively involved in the show, there is every chance the series can run for multiple seasons, and might present multiple opportunities for long-term success.

Of course, any appearance by Lerman in the TV adaptation will depend on the writers finding a role for him, and ensuring that he has the right schedule in place. Whether viewers will get to see a legacy actor in the show remains to be seen. The critical and viewership success of Percy Jackson and the Olympians could mean it runs beyond season 2, and this will provide plenty of opportunities for Lerman to be involved.
