The Percy Jackson and the Olympians television show will arrive on Disney+ sooner than expected. The critically acclaimed and award-winning book series by Rick Riordan originally received the film adaptation treatment. The two movies that were adapted from the first two books weren’t well-received and plans for continuing the film series were scrapped. Instead, the books were later adapted via a Disney+ television series that will be more accurate to the books.

Why The Percy Jackson Series Is So Exciting
When it comes to beloved young adult book series, Percy Jackson is on the same level as Harry Potter and The Hunger Games. Harry Potter and The Hunger Games both have generally well-received film adaptations that follow the series from beginning to end. Percy Jackson‘s film adaptations, on the other hand, have been heavily lambasted and didn’t even tell the complete story, with the film series ending after the second movie. Disney+’s Percy Jackson television series is a chance to do the books justice and to tell the full story of the original book series.
It is promising that Riordan has worked closely with the show’s creative team, and the author continually praises the Percy Jackson television series, from the action and special effects to Walker Scobell’s performance as Percy. The show is making a diligent effort to remain faithful to the books, including the decision to keep Percy, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood the same ages as they are in the source material instead of aging them up as the movies did. A television show is a better adaptation medium for this story as each season can take the time to faithfully adapt each book.
Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, and Aryan Simhadri as Grover are exciting casting choices for the young protagonists who the audience can watch grow up alongside their characters as the show progresses. The Disney+ series also features many exciting guest actors, including the late Lance Reddick as Zeus, Lin-Manuel Miranda as Hermes, Glynn Turman as Chiron, Jason Mantzoukas as Dionysus, and Timothy Omundson as Hephaestus.
