As Fantastic Four‘s release date gets closer, speculation about its cast, plot, and villains increases. One of the most widely discussed aspects of the movie is Reed Richards’ casting, which has only gotten more exciting with reports that Pedro Pascal is being considered for Mister Fantastic. However, there might still be other actors in the running for Reed Richards, and Pascal could be playing a different character in the MCU’s Fantastic Four.

Instead of the Fantastic Four’s leader, there’s a small possibility that Pedro Pascal will play the team’s archnemesis, Doctor Doom. Will Doctor Doom Be In Marvel’s Fantastic Four Movie?

The Fantastic Four are inherently intertwined with Doctor Doom. Doom is often depicted as Reed Richards’ lifelong enemy even before he developed superpowers, and Marvel’s First Family has been the main thorn in Doctor Doom’s side throughout the years. But as inseparable as they are, the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom have already starred in four Fantastic Four movies. Therefore, Fantastic Four will likely skip Doctor Doom, and Marvel Studios might choose a different antagonist for the MCU’s first Fantastic Four movie, holding off Doctor Doom’s MCU introduction until after the superhero team is already established.

Phases 5 and 6 of the MCU are so crowded that Doctor Doom is unlikely to appear in a different Multiverse Saga release if he isn’t introduced in 2025’s Fantastic Four. However, Doom has such an extensive comic book history that he could easily star in his own MCU movie or show, eventually. While Doctor Doom plays a key role in Marvel Comics’ 2015 Secret Wars storyline alongside Reed Richards, it’s possible that the MCU will avoid Doom until there’s enough time to do him justice, perhaps in a Phase 7 sequel to Fantastic Four.

Meanwhile, the MCU’s first Fantastic Four movie might explore at least one antagonist that has never been used in a Fantastic Four movie before. Comic book villains such as Mole Man, Annihilus, Impossible Man, and Mad Thinker haven’t appeared in a live-action Marvel movie yet. And despite debuting in live-action back in 2007, Galactus has never received a comic-accurate live-action adaptation that truly captures his larger-than-life presence. Although Doctor Doom could still cameo in the MCU’s Fantastic Four, he’s likely to become the team’s biggest enemy in a future sequel.
