Peaky Blinders Season 4 Casts Adrien Brody

Peaky Blinders Season 4 Casts Adrien Brody

British period gangster drama, Peaky Blinders, has started filming the upcoming fourth season of the show (premiere date yet to be announced). Season three of the critically acclaimed show ended with an intense finale that promises to upset the new status quo for some time. After charting the rise of the Shelby family to high society in the early 1900s, the last season ended with betrayal, and the upcoming season will be dealing with a fight for survival.

The regular main cast will be returning for Peaky Blinders season 4, including stars Cillian Murphy, Tom Hardy, Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Joe Cole, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, Aimee-Ffion Edwards and Kate Phillips. Now, a new face will also be joining the show, as Adrien Brody is announced as a new character for the fourth season.

Adrien Brody will be joining the show in an unknown role, reports Deadline, and it sounds like it will be a meaty one. Creator Steven Knight says:

He genuinely was the actor in my head when I wrote the part. I’m sure he will be a formidable presence in the world of the Peaky Blinders.

BBC Drama Controller Piers Wenger said of the casting:

[He is] a world class actor famous for producing mesmerizing performances. I cannot wait to see him in action alongside the rest of Peaky Blinders‘ superb cast bringing Steven Knight’s extraordinary writing to life on BBC Two.

The Oscar-winning actor is known for his work on The Pianist and The Grand Budapest Hotel, and has a flair for just the kind of tense and dramatic performance that we have come to expect from the cast of Peaky Blinders. As a New Yorker, it will be interesting to see whether or not Brody will be using a British accent (especially one of the more regional ones, given that the series is set in Birmingham), or whether he may be playing up his New York roots as either a mobster or a socialite from across the pond.

We cannot wait to see where this tense drama goes in a fourth season, especially with yet another big name added to the cast. The upcoming fourth season has been described as ‘the best yet’, by creator Knight, and with Brody onboard, we wouldn’t be surprised if he was absolutely right (and not just hyping his own project).
