Parks and Recreation stars Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman reunite in a Game of Thrones-inspired Super Bowl ad. Premiered in 2009, the mockumentary sitcom follows the daily antics of the eponymous department in the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana. A few of the show’s standout stars include Offerman as Ron Swanson and Plaza as April Ludgate, both iconically laconic characters. Since the series ended in 2015, the Parks and Recreation cast has reunited multiple times, including for a special episode in 2020 set during the COVID-19 pandemic, and again on the picket line during the actors strike in 2023.
Now, the Parks and Recreation stars Aubrey Plaza and Nick Offerman have reunited once again for a new Mountain Dew Super Bowl commercial partially inspired by Game of Thrones. Watch it below:
Playing off her deadpan personality, the ad introduces Plaza as “America’s sweetheart” who proceeds to have a Baja Blast in various situations, including inexplicably riding fire-breathing dragons alongside her Parks and Recreation co-star Nick Offerman.

Other 2024 Super Bowl Commercials That Have Been Released
In the weeks leading up to the year’s biggest television event, it is customary for companies to release their Super Bowl commercials online, which sometimes spoils the surprise, but also generates buzz before the big game and the biggest day in advertising. Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler’s fellow Saturday Night Live alum and former “Weekend Update” co-host Tina Fey appears in an ad for Booking.com. Another SNL alum, Kate McKinnon, stars in Hellmann’s Super Bowl spot introducing a new feline friend known as Mayo Cat.
Another big television reunion happening during the Super Bowl is between Friends cast members Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, who appear in an ad for Uber Eats. With his role as Emperor Shaddam IV coming up in Dune: Part Two, Christopher Walken appears in a commercial for BMW’s i5 electric car, coupled with original Dune star Jason Momoa in a T-Mobile ad alongside Scrubs stars Zach Braff and Donald Faison. There will also be a commercial for Silk showcasing Jeremy Renner’s incredible recovery a year after his life-threatening snow plow injury.
