Paramount+ Reveals Long-Awaited Video Game Adaptation In Surprise Release

Paramount+ has revealed the long-awaited animated adaptation of ARK: Survival Evolved, announcing its surprise release while showing more of the series. The show, titled ARK: The Animated Series, was first announced at The Game Awards in 2020 with an animated trailer. Another trailer was released in 2022, but since then, there had been few updates on when the series would come out.

Now, Paramount+ has released a teaser for the ARK: Survival Evolved adaptation, which reveals The Animated Series is streaming today.

The trailer shows plenty of dinosaurs attacking, ARK‘s signature dino mounts, and action while teasing the major stars offering their voices for the production. The first six episodes of the show are now on Paramount+, released at the same time as the trailer.

What Is ARK: The Animated Series About?

ARK: The Animated Series follows paleontologist Helena Walker (Madeleine Madden) who, while grieving the death of her wife, awakens in the game’s mysterious world. Befriending another survivor named Bob (Karl Urban), the pair begin the fight for survival as a wider mystery continues to brew. Throughout the episodes, Helena encounters more survivors that add more to the show’s ongoing story.

The cast of the show includes plenty of recognizable actors, including Gerard Butler (300), Elliot Page (The Umbrella Academy), David Tennant (Doctor Who), Alan Tudyk (Resident Alien), and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) among others. One of these actors is ARK 2 star Vin Diesel, in a role likely hinting at his involvement in the forthcoming video game sequel. The talented voices in this series indicate just how much effort went into crafting the new adaptation.

The series also arrives just in time for hype around ARK: Survival Ascended Scorched Earth‘s release, a DLC update for Survival Evolved‘s ongoing remake coming in April. As for The Animated Series, the years-long anticipation can finally subside now that Paramount+ has started to release the show. With the series having dropped not long ago, it remains to be seen what the majority of viewers and critics alike think of the series.
