Pacific Rim: The Black Renewed For Season 2 At Netflix

Netflix’s Pacific Rim: The Black has just been renewed for season 2. This adult animated streaming series is based on the live-action films Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim: Uprising. The first movie was directed by Guillermo Del Toro and starred huge actors like Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba. The world of Pacific Rim is best described as a futuristic, science-fiction dystopia, and in this universe, the Earth is at war with giant sea monsters known as the kaiju. These beings emerged from an interdimensional portal on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. In order to fight the monsters, humans create the Jaegers, which are giant battle robots.

So far, no new live-action Pacific Rim movies have been announced however the Netflix animated spin-off show was greenlit in 2018. Pacific Rim: The Black does a great job of continuing where the live-action films leave off. The first season explored a war-ravaged Australia teeming with gigantic monsters that have to be defeated. The show follows two teenage siblings (Taylor and Hayley Travis) who have to survive this dangerous world as they search for their parents who disappeared after heading off into battle. Pacific Rim: The Black season 1 just debuted on Netflix this month, and now there is exciting news on season 2.

According to the Pacific Rim Twitter page, Pacific Rim: The Black has been renewed for season 2. The first promotional image for Pacific Rim: The Black season 2 shows both Taylor and Hayley facing off against the kaiju with their Jaeger called the Atlas Destroyer standing behind them. This image promises adventure and action awaiting the new season.

The first season ends with Hayley and Taylor discovering the Hunter Vertigo along with uncovering Mei’s dark backstory. However, little is known about the true identity of the Kaiju boy. Hayley and Taylor think that he could be a part of the alien race known as the Precursors. This is one question that could very well get addressed in the next season. The season 1 finale also concludes with a mysterious woman declaring that the mystery boy is the Kaiju Messiah. This will most likely be the premise of Pacific Rim: The Black season 2 as they tackle all of these mysteries.

If Pacific Rim: The Black season 2 is as good as season 1 then audiences should be delighted to have more episodes. There are so many rich plot points to flesh out and mysteries to uncover. As of now, there is no specific date for the season 2 premiere, but it will likely not be coming out until next year. Until then, keep watching for more updates on this exciting new show.
