‘Orphan Black’ Season 3 Character Posters: The Brotherhood Clones Revealed

Season 3 of Orphan Black seems to be changing the dynamic of the showwith the introduction of an entire family of male clones. Played by Ari Millen, the Project CASTOR clones Rudy, Seth, Miller, and Mark Rollins look to be the most dangerous foes the sisterhood has faced yet. Aside from the fact that the series will be doubling the number of clones – which possibly means doubling the storylines – the CASTOR clones separate themselves from the LEDA clones because unlike their female counterparts, they have been aware of each other their whole lives as they were being turned into a functional military unit.

The premiere of season 3 is less than a week away now, and the marketing campaign for the season up to this point has been relatively low-key with most of the posters and trailers focusing on the different mindsets and personalities each clones possesses. With the different lifestyles for each faction of clones clashing with the other, this season should make for an interesting game of cat and mouse.

Ahead of season 3’s premiere next Saturday, BBC America has released a new set of new character posters and ensemble photos featuring each of the clones from both Project LEDA and Project CASTOR. The posters are rather simplistic and just feature each clone standing in front of a white wall posing, but the actors are able to say enough with their posture and facial expressions – that it really doesn’t take much more.

Orphan Black has managed to cement itself as one of the most interesting additions to not only the sci-fi genre, but TV in general. It’s hard to find a series like it, and despite the consistent high-quality of the series, its ratings have never been quite high enough. It looks like this season might change that with the premiere airing not only on BBC America, but also on all AMC outlets.

With Tatiana Maslany and Millen providing very skilled performances, it will be interesting to see how this season balances screen time between the two families of clones. Striking a strong balance between each of the sister clones’ stories in the first two seasons was a feat in itself, and fans should hope that the writers will prove themselves just as capable of handling this new challenge as well – instead of being too ambitious for their own good.

Whether or not this new season will be a success or trip over itself is still unknown, but third seasons have proven themselves to be tricky for writers to tackle. We’ll just have to wait and see if it proves successful.

Orphan Black season 3 is set to premiere April 18th, 2015 @9pm on BBC America.
