Today, August 25, Netmarble Corp. and Marvel Entertainment have unleashed Marvel Future Revolution, an action role-playing title available on mobile devices via the App Store and Google Play. Initially teased five years ago in the Marvel Future Fight launch trailer, Marvel Future Revolution represents the first Marvel-centric open-world action RPG to go live across mobile platforms.
Netmarble and Marvel officially unveiled the project at PAX East in 2020, promising to deliver an experience that lets players assume the roles of several iconic superheroes, including the likes of Captain America, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man. Marvel Future Revolution takes place following the happenings of a calamitous event known as Convergence, described as a “multi-universal catastrophe” by writer Marc Sumerak – the Eisner Award-nominated scribe who’s penned tales starring Black Panther, Iron Man, and several other Marvel mainstays. Now fans can experience the catastrophe’s aftermath for themselves.
Starting today, App Store and Google Play users can download the free-to-play Marvel Future Revolution on their mobile devices. The title is available in 240 countries, Netmarble and Marvel noted in a press release; thus, fans around the globe can explore the newly formed “Primary Earth.” Notably, Marvel Future Revolution stars the Omega Flight superhero squad, a team assembled in an effort to beat back a series of super villain threats. Players wield the powers of eight different characters, each donning iconic outfits from the Marvel Universe that allow for “400 million costume combinations” for every superhero. Marvel Future Revolution serves as another Marvel mobile endeavor, one among the many that already populate Android and iOS digital storefronts. In the long run, the ambitious action role-playing title could prove just as successful as some of its predecessors, too.
While Marvel adventures on mobile may seem like a dime a dozen, there does at least exist a variety in terms of the content on offer. While Marvel Future Revolution constitutes an action RPG, the likes of Marvel Puzzle Quest offer a superhero-fueled Match 3 experience. Meanwhile, NetEase’s Marvel Super War presents players with a mobile MOBA game, the first of its kind available on smartphones. Needless to say, the brand’s domination on the mobile market won’t soon come to an end.
