Ooblets: How To Make Money (& Build A Perfect Farm)

Ooblets: How To Make Money (& Build A Perfect Farm)

In the outlandish world of Oob, small adorable creatures named Ooblets live in harmony with humans in what’s possibly the most non-violent game to ever exist. Ooblets, released in early access on the Epic Games Store, is a farming simulator meets Pokemon game guaranteed to put a smile on anyone’s face within minutes of turning it on. Although designed to be a stress-free, relaxing title, there are a few hurdles early on in the game that players might want to be aware of.

There really aren’t many stakes in Ooblets. Unlike titles like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing that keep track of dates, times, and have specific deadlines, everything in Ooblets can be done at the player’s own pace. Regardless, there are a few things about the game left unexplained and are better to know before playing to get a bit of a head start.

Ooblets is currently still in early access on the Epic Games Store, so keeping an eye out for bugs, glitches, and unresponsive mechanics is very important. Although the game has a battle mechanic through dance, the early game dance-offs tend to be very easy. Players should be able to get enough experience to breeze through the game if they participate in dances frequently. Farming, on the other hand, can get a little trickier.

Ooblets Farming Tips

Ooblets: How To Make Money (& Build A Perfect Farm)

Farming in Ooblets is very similar to Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons. The player has a littered plot of land that they have to clean up, till, and plant seeds to grow crops. After being defeated in dance, Ooblets will give the player a seed to plant a creature of their own. What the game fails to tell players is that planting multiple of the same species is essentially useless, unless it’s an uncommon or gleamy version of that Ooblet. The player and farm have limited space for the creatures, and once that limit is reached Ooblets can no longer be harvested until Oobcoops are built to create more space.

Building Oobcoops early is essential, as it increases space for Ooblets, but also gives the creatures tasks on your farm like clearing weeds and watering plants. Keeping a gleamy, the shiny Pokemon equivalent to Ooblets, on the farm increases the chances of Oobsidians to appear, a very rare and essential item to the game. Crafting sprinklers seem useful at first, but the Oobcoops essential serve the same purpose while increasing the space for more creatures. It is best to save some space on the farm for materials to grow, so don’t use up the whole plot on crops and Oobcoops.

Ooblets Crops Tips

Ooblets All Crops

Nearly every crop planted in Ooblets serves a purpose. Whether that be for crafting, cooking, or fulfilling requests for the local trader for large sums of money. Therefore, it’s best to keep all of your crops instead of selling them to Meeds, the seed store owner. One of the most essential crops, Clothlets, are scarcely found scattered around Badgetown, but the seeds can also be found when picking weeds. Clothlet seeds are expensive, so it’s best to save money for when they go on sale. One type of crop will go on sale for half-off each day in Meed’s store, so it’s best to stock up at least a bit each day on that discounted item.

Ooblets Gummies & Wishies Tips

Ooblets Wishies

Gummies are Ooblets’ form of currency in the game. The blocky substances can be obtained by selling items, completing tasks, and most importantly by scanning different types of Ooblets. One of the easiest ways to make money in the game is by growing uncommon or gleamy Ooblets and scanning them at Lernery with the local genius Rugnolia. Uncommon or gleamy Ooblets are different colored creatures similar to shiny Pokemon, and the type of Ooblets that appear in town are shown the night before when going to bed. Scanning common Ooblets gives 50 gummies, but a gleamy can give up to 300, which is enough to buy lots of early essential items like the watering can or fanny pack.

Wishies are a different form of currency primarily used to buy recipes and upgrades like more energy or a bigger farm. Wishies are obtained by completing daily tasks found in the bottom left corner of the screen, along with getting badges and helping Tinstle with her tasks. Badges are essentially achievements like winning a number of dance battles or harvesting several types of crops. It may be tempting to spend Wishies on Clothlets or Oobsidians, but it’s far more worth spending those on blueprints or upgrades.

Ooblets Social Tips

Ooblets Mayor Tinstle Chat

The social aspects of Ooblets are just as important as farming. Talking to all of the villagers every day gives experience, and also fills up a friendship meter that each time it’s filled out the player is rewarded with some great items. Mayor Tinstle will give players different tasks as the game progresses, and completing these task rewards the players with essential items and resources. One of the most important tasks players should focus on as soon as it’s available is unlocking the Dance Barn. Once unlocked, the Dance Barn will have daily tournaments that provide a solid amount of experience and Wishies.

Ooblets Dancing Tips

Ooblets Lumpstump

Dancing in Ooblets is the only form of combat, and it’s also how players obtain seeds to grow more creatures of their own. The dances use a card-based system to bust out the sick moves. One of the best early Ooblets is a critter named Lumpstump, easily found in Badgetown. Lumpstump learns several moves early on that provide points during battle, along with buffing the team with hype that increases the potential number of points earned per turn. As long as Lumpstump is on the team and leveling up, it can be expected he’ll stay a party member for most of the game.

Ooblets encourages players to take their own pace and unravel the features of the game slowly over time. Still in early access, players can expect several changes over the next few months, along with new areas and features added to the game before the official release. Ooblets can be purchased from the Epic Games Store on PC.
