One Upcoming Star Wars TV Show Can Fulfil Lucas’ Most Exciting Sith Plan

One Upcoming Star Wars TV Show Can Fulfil Lucas’ Most Exciting Sith Plan

Disney is finally buckling down and telling the Sith-driven Star Wars story Georges Lucas only ever dreamed of making. Thus far, almost every movie in the Skywalker Saga has dealt with the ongoing war between the Sith and the Jedi. But the franchise tends to be biased, and has neglected to tell the Sith’s side of the story. The fall of the Jedi Order in the prequels, the survival of the Jedi in the originals, and the resurrection of the Jedi in the sequels; at this point, the Jedi have been covered more than any other group in the galaxy.

It’s high time the franchise explored other groups in the galaxy, particularly ones Lucas never got around to elaborating on. The closest Star Wars has ever come to a series about the Sith was the prequel trilogy, since it often showed Palpatine’s subplot of taking over the Jedi Order. But the prequels failed to explain enough about the Sith to really satiate the audience, and instead focused on Anakin’s romance and fall from the Jedi. However, one upcoming Star Wars show will set up the prequel trilogy by finally explaining how the Sith really hid from the Jedi.

The Acolyte Will Reveal The Sith “Infiltration” Of The Jedi

One Upcoming Star Wars TV Show Can Fulfil Lucas’ Most Exciting Sith Plan

Star Wars: The Acolyte is Disney’s answer for a series about the Sith. Set in the High Republic Era—over one hundred years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom MenaceThe Acolyte will focus on how the Sith managed to hide from the Jedi for over a millennium. In the movies, Lucas left the inner workings of the Sith as a mystery. But The Acolyte will dispel the mystery of the Sith. Specifically, the series will show how Sith infiltrated the Jedi; and because the prequel trilogy shows the Order believing the Sith to be extinct, they will likely succeed.

George Lucas had plenty of ideas for what happened before The Phantom Menace, but he ultimately cut those ideas out of the prequels for the sake of space. Instead, he left the Star Wars Legends continuity to fill in much of what he could not, leading to many different theories on how the Sith managed to evade detection from the Jedi for so long. Palpatine shows the audience how a Master Sith is able to conceal his presence right in front of the Jedi, but how the Sith persisted for generations without slipping up remains a mystery.

George Lucas Always Intended There To Be Sith Among The Jedi

Sifo-Dyas bound by energy in The Clone Wars.

One of George Lucas’ original ideas for the prequels was to introduce Sith hidden among the Jedi, increasing the believability of the Order’s fall. In particular, Sifo-Dyas’ character was originally meant to be a Sith, possibly another one of Palpatine’s alter egos. Initially, there were even plans to have Obi-Wan Kenobi and the other Jedi not even recognize Sifo-Dyas’ name. But this reveal was ultimately cut from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, leaving the Legends community to come up with Sifo-Dyas’ tragic backstory.

This Year, Star Wars Will Reveal The Real Reason The Jedi Fell

One upcoming Star Wars TV show is set to explain why the Jedi eventually fell at the end of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, despite their strength.

Despite Lucas changing Sifo-Dyas from an undercover Sith Lord to a misguided Jedi, his initial idea may still be used in Star Wars Canon. In the prequels, it feels like the Jedi are mere inches away from discovering Palpatine’s true identity. But with The Acolyte, Star Wars needs to show how close the Jedi actually came to uncovering the secrets of the Sith. According to what little has been revealed about the show, a Jedi Master and apprentice will stumble upon a dark secret, which will likely lead them to find the Sith.

Did The Sith Survive Inside The Jedi Order?

The idea of the Sith surviving inside the Jedi Order makes perfect sense. Given the predator-prey relationship between the Sith and the Jedi, it seems natural for the hundreds of Jedi to have wiped out the few Sith alive long ago. And given how the Sith could only ever be numbered to two, blatantly challenging the enormous Jedi Order is a death sentence. However, if the Sith learned to parasitically hide within the Jedi Order, they would be able to grow alongside the Jedi.

Shocking Star Wars Theory Reveals How The Sith Really Hid From The Jedi For A Thousand Years

One sinister Star Wars theory might provide an answer as to how the Sith were able to hide from the Jedi for over a thousand years in plain sight.

With The Acolyte, Disney will likely run with George Lucas’ original plan for the Sith hiding among the Jedi. The best hiding place is in plain sight, and if the Sith were able to trick the Jedi into thinking they were the same as them, then the mystery of how they survived for so long would be solved. In any case, The Acolyte needs to explain why the Jedi believe the Sith to be extinct during the prequels, and George Lucas’ original Sith infiltration is a promising answer to most of the lingering questions regarding them in Star Wars.
