One Star Wars Character Hinted At Star Wars’ Other Galaxies Almost 2 Years Before Ahsoka

Nearly two years before the premiere of Ahsoka, one Star Wars character hinted at the universe’s other galaxies, as well as the connection between them. The latest live-action Star Wars TV show massively widened its scope by traveling into another galaxy, where both Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger had been stranded after the events of Star Wars Rebels. Following the Ahsoka finale, Ahsoka Tano herself and Sabine Wren are trapped there, with Thrawn and Ezra having escaped back to the regular galaxy. While it seems like it may be impossible for the master and apprentice to get back home, Star Wars has hinted that intergalactic travel may be more common than previously thought.

Ahsoka itself provided several hints about the ancient history of the Star Wars universe quite commonly using intergalactic travel, with the Nightsisters of Dathomir having originated from Peridea before traveling to the home galaxy of Star Wars. Peridea also contains runes praising the Zeffo, an ancient species who once had their own type of empire within the Star Wars galaxy – and clearly must have also either originated from another galaxy or even had an intergalactic reach with their rule. Before Ahsoka, however, Star Wars was already hinting at other galaxies with a Star Wars character whose name alone proved their intergalactic reach.

Galactic Starcruiser’s Gaya Was An “Intergalactic Superstar”

Gaya, the Twi’lek entertainer who was a main part of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser’s cast, was often introduced with the title of “intergalactic superstar.” This title was clearly meant to be a spin on the Earth term of “international superstar,” but it also stands as a strong hint towards the other galaxies surrounding that of Star Wars’ own. Gaya’s influence as an entertainer was so prominent during the sequel Star Wars trilogy era that her reach spread to multiple other galaxies, and it likely means she might have been able to either broadcast her songs there or even travel there for performances – thus posing a new question about the universe’s true intergalactic connections.

How Common Is Intergalactic Travel In Star Wars?

If someone like Gaya, who was a renowned entertainer, could have an intergalactic reach, then it seems intergalactic communications and travel may be more common in Star Wars than previously thought. It may, however, be reserved for a select few, which would still create challenges for people like Morgan Elsbeth and Ahsoka in trying to reach the other galaxies. Gaya made a name for herself in a way that would allow her elite access to proper equipment for both intergalactic communications and travel, which could be the reason for her establishing an intergalactic reach, while the characters of Ahsoka struggled to do the same.

It could also be as simple as the term “intergalactic superstar” being used in lieu of the proper term “intragalactic superstar,” simplifying the way in which Star Wars wanted to describe Gaya’s galaxy-wide influence as an entertainer. Regardless, the ancient history of the galaxy alone stands as a testament to the way intergalactic travel was once more common than it is now in the Star Wars galaxy, which makes the galaxy’s earliest times even more interesting. Ahsoka, then, is a culmination of hints provided by Star Wars over time, and it may end up explaining how someone like Gaya was able to have such an intergalactic reach.
