One Of The Best Simpsons Episodes Ever Reveals Cut Scene To Celebrate 30th Anniversary

Former The Simpsons showrunner Josh Weinstein celebrates the 30th anniversary of season 4’s “Marge vs. The Monorail” by revealing a long-lost moment cut from the final episode. In the 1993 episode, Springfield gladly gives a vast donation of money to a shady businessman to build the city an impressive, song-worthy Monorail network, but Marge’s (Julie Kavner) suspicions uncover a scam that could destroy the town. Since it first aired, the Conan O’Brian-penned episode has become one of the series’ most celebrated episodes by staff and audiences.

With January 14 marking 30 years since the celebrated The Simpsons season 4 episode aired, Weinstein shared a cut moment from the episode on Twitter.

In the scene, Lisa (Yeardley Smith) reads to Maggie from a monorail-themed Thomas the Tank Engine parody book. While Marge disapproves, Maggie catches “Monorail Fever”.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons is a long-running animated TV series created by Matt Groening that satirically follows a working-class family in the misfit city of Springfield. Homer, a bit of a schmoe who works at a nuclear power plant, is the provider for his family, while his wife, Marge, tries to keep sanity and reason in the house to the best of her ability. Bart is a born troublemaker, and Lisa is his super-intelligent sister who finds herself surrounded by people who can’t understand her. Finally, Maggie is the mysterious baby who acts as a deus ex machina when the series calls for it. The show puts the family in several wild situations while constantly tackling socio-political and pop-culture topics set within their world, providing an often sharp critique of the subjects covered in each episode. This series first premiered in 1989 and has been a staple of Fox’s programming schedule ever since.
