Olympian Lindsey Vonn To Host Dog Competition Show The Pack

Athlete Lindsey Vonn already has plenty of accolades tied to her name, and now she can add reality TV host to her resumé, thanks to a new gig hosting Amazon Prime’s The Pack. A celebrated Olympic gold medalist skier, Vonn originally hails from Minnesota, where she got her start in the sport. She won numerous titles throughout her career, including four World Cup championships and a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics.

A slew of injuries ultimately led to Vonn’s departure from skiing in 2019. However, it’s hard to imagine the athlete stepping away from sports entirely. Now, Vonn is venturing down a new path in the reality competition television realm, all while maintaining a connection to her roots.

Vonn will be hosting the new show, The Pack, premiering on Amazon Prime on Nov. 20. The canine-based reality show will feature 12 teams of dogs and their human companions as they compete in various challenges around the world. Per New York Post, Costa Rica, London, and Mexico City are just some of the many sites that will be featured on The Pack. Throughout the series, Vonn is accompanied by her own pooch, a four-year-old King Charles Spaniel named Lucy.

I was presented with this opportunity, and as soon as they said ‘dogs,’ I was in. I love animals, especially dogs — I have three of them– and they’ve been such a huge part of my life. Post-skiing career, I was looking for a new challenge, and I thought this was a perfect fit. I could be around animals and explore the world.

During the series, the teams of humans and dogs are asked to complete a number of challenges, but pairs are eliminated as the show progresses until just one remains. The winning duo receives a $750,000 prize – $500,000 goes to the team, while the remaining $250,000 goes to an animal charity of their choosing. Vonn, who is passionate about animals herself, says she is “very happy” this was the way the competition wrapped up. As for the challenges themselves, Vonn had the unique opportunity to participate before the contestants, along with her furry pal, Lucy, revealing she got to try out the challenges ahead of time.

Vonn is a great choice to host The Pack. Her competitive background means she’ll understand what the teams are experiencing. Plus, since her dog will be along for the ride, it’s clear Vonn is an animal lover. Additionally, she has TV experience, having served as an NBC news correspondent during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Vonn is also a familiar face to many, which should make more want to check out the upcoming show. The series will also benefit from the current state of the world, as many are looking for a distraction. All told, The Pack sounds like it will be an interesting show, with Vonn providing a key role as host.
