Official Anime Sequel Will Resurrect One Of The Biggest Shonen Of The 2010s

Fairy Tail‘s highly anticipated sequel Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is finally getting an anime, resurrecting one of the biggest shonen series of the 2010s. Fairy Tail was highly influential during its time, as evidenced by its eleven-year-long run, and its sequel has finally received an official release window and new teaser trailer.

First announced in September 2021, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest has finally been scheduled for release in July 2024. The series will be animated by J.C. Staff, who have also adapted creator Hiro Mashima’s other work, Edens Zero. The announcement was made via a teaser trailer posted on YouTube by the official account for 100 Years Quest, which has also been given its own webpage with additional information on the production.

According to the official website, Fairy Tail‘s original voice cast for Natsu, Lucy, Gray, Erza, Wendy, Happy, and Charles will be reprising their iconic roles once again. Fans can also expect the sequel to have just as iconic of a soundtrack as the original series with Yasuharu Takanashi in charge of the music for 100 Years Quest.

With Fairy Tail‘s final episode having aired in September 2019, 100 Years Quest‘s July release window marks a return to the beloved franchise after almost exactly five years. The series’ fun-loving antics and emotional core had managed to captivate audiences around the world throughout its run and many were saddened to learn that Fairy Tail‘s adventures had come to an end.

Fortunately, 100 Years Quest will finally see Natsu, Lucy, and the rest of Fairy Tail’s quirky cast set out on a new adventure once again as they attempt to complete a new legendary quest that no one has managed to complete for a century. Fairy Tail‘s vibrant world still has plenty of surprises in store and many new places to explore and, hopefully, the sequel will give fans the chance to do just that.

Overall, despite its criticisms over the years, Fairy Tail continues to be a highly nostalgic series that is beloved by many.
