“Of Course Not”: Chris Pine Update Shuts Down Star Trek 4 Return

Chris Pine gives a curt update that shuts down whether there are plans for him to return as Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek 4. The fourth Star Trek film produced by J.J. Abrams has been in development hell for several years. High-profile filmmakers like Quentin Tarantino, Noah Hawley, S.J. Clarkson, and Matt Shakman have been attached to direct Star Trek 4, but they all left due to “creative differences.” Meanwhile, Pine has expressed his willingness to reprise Kirk, but he seems resigned that it’s unlikely to happen any time soon.

During the promotion of his new Disney animated film, Wish, Chris Pine was asked by ComicBook if he has any knowledge of forward movement on Star Trek 4, and the actor was blunt in his response. Check out his quote below:

“Not that I know [of],” Pine told ComicBook.com when quizzed about plans for a fourth installment. When we asked if he had seen any scripts, he said, “Of course not.”

Star Trek 2009, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Trek Beyond are available to stream on Paramount+.
