Now You See Me 3 has been officially confirmed by Lionsgate, teasing a fresh new take on the franchise from the movie’s new director. The magician-focused franchise sees a group of illusionists use magic trick and sleight of hand to steal money from the corrupt and give it back to their audience. Talks of a third installment have happened for some time, with one previous version that would see writer Eric Warren Singer at the helm.
Now, Comicbook.com reports that Lionsgate has confirmed Now You See Me 3 is happening, with Venom director Ruben Fleischer leading the project. The production company calls the film a “reimagined” sequel while revealing production will begin in spring 2024. What Could Now You See Me 3 Be About?
The exact details of the upcoming sequel have yet to be revealed, but Lionsgate’s wording indicates it will be very different from the previous two films. The franchise’s concept and Now You See Me‘s ending made it a hit series, especially thanks to performances by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Isla Fisher. However, the second movie was met with negative critical reception, which could have influenced a shift in presentation for the next installment.
It’s currently unconfirmed if any cast members from the first two movies will reprise their roles for the sequel. However, with a filming start date sometime in the spring, it won’t be long before more concrete details about the movie get revealed. Even though the movie might be taken in a new direction, it’s possible familiar faces from Lizzy Caplan’s Lula to Mark Ruffalo’s Dylan Rhodes could show up during the movie.
