“Not Even Up for Debate”: Nightwing & Batman Writer Confirms Bat-Family Fighter More Skilled Than Bruce Wayne

There are few fighters in the DC Universe who are better than Batman. He spent a great deal of his life and fortune traveling the world to learn from the best fighters. But despite all of this, there’s one Bat-Family member who can officially and easily defeat Batman: Cassandra Cain.

During a Twitter/X trend where fans are asked to “upset a DC Comics fan with one sentence,” one user stated that Cassandra Cain could defeat Batman. Noted Nightwing and Bat-Family writer Tom Taylor decided to chime in and mention: “It’s true. Not even up for debate.

Plenty of characters have either worn or wanted the cowl over the years, but DC finally admits the one character who truly deserves it.

Cassandra Cain Has Always Been a Better Fighter than Batman

Cassandra Cain Easily Overpowers Batman

Batman has gone up against heavy hitters like Lady Shiva and Deathstroke and managed to hold his own. He is an incredible hand-to-hand fighter, and very few characters on Earth can stand against him when it comes to martial arts. But even Batman admits that Cassandra Cain is the Bat-Family’s best fighter. Batman merely learned how to fight, but Cassandra was raised for the sole purpose of fighting. From a young age, she was trained by her father to read body language as a language, which has given her a near superhuman ability to fight.

There’s no denying that Batman is a great martial artist, but Cassandra Cain’s skills are so absurd that the CIA mistakenly classified her as a metahuman — which is understandable, considering their analyst saw her dodge bullets. Even Batman has admitted he can’t beat Cassandra in a fight. The way Cassandra was raised was undoubtedly abusive, but there’s also no denying that it made her one of the best fighters on the planet, if not the best. Almost everyone has come to accept Cassandra’s mastery as fact, including Batman and even DC’s most celebrated writers.

Comic book panels: Batman admits to Batwoman that Batgirl Cassandra Cain could beat him in a fight.

Batman’s strength has never been in his pure ability to outfight others. His strength has always been in his ability to plan for every contingency and take his enemies down before they know what hit them. Batman has been beaten in the past by fighters worse than him, such as Prometheus, because he was taken by surprise. But these tactics wouldn’t work on Cassandra. Her ability to read muscle tension would allow her to react to any attack, even if it’s one she hasn’t seen before. Batman may be an amazing fighter, but Cassandra Cain is even better, and everyone knows it.
