The Not Dead Yet season 2 trailer teases that Gina Rodriguez’s Nell is growing tired of seeing spirits. Debuting on ABC in February 2023, with Jane the Virgin alum and Golden Globe winner Rodriguez as the lead star, the workplace comedy is based on the 2020 book by Alexandra Potter. The story follows Nell Serrano, who is essentially broke and working to return to the life she left behind a decade ago. She lands a job writing obituaries, unexpectedly getting advice from ghosts. The show garnered buzz, receiving a renewal only weeks after wrapping its first installment.

The preview highlights that Nell is still having a rough go professionally and personally. But on the bright side, the new character portrayed by Everybody Loves Raymond star Brad Garrett seems to have hit it off with the obituarist.
What To Know About Not Dead Yet Season 2
Garrett, whose recent credits include the ABC comedy Single Parents and the 2022 film Cha Cha Real Smooth, will play Duncan Rhodes, the owner/publisher of the newspaper where Nell works. Also, the father of Nell’s boss, Lexi (Lauren Ash), Duncan thinks highly of himself and what he’s accomplished. It’s not until he meets Nell that he starts to hear that, perhaps, he might not be such a great father.
Garrett, a three-time Emmy winner for his role as Robert Barone in Everybody Loves Raymond, isn’t the only new actor joining Not Dead Yet. Wendie Malick (Hot in Cleveland), Nico Santos (Superstore), Rob Corddry (Ballers), Tommy Martinez (Riverdale), Lidia Porto (Home Economics), Jesse Garcia (Flamin’ Hot), and Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 911!) will appear as part of the upcoming episodes. Although most are guest stars who will appear as ghosts, Garcia is slated to recur as Nell’s potential love interest.
