Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Palm Royale episode 9.
Ever since Norma woke up from her coma in Palm Royale, she’s been on a mission, but one scene showed that she won’t succeed in the season 1 finale. Carol Burnett’s Norma started Palm Royale in a coma following a pulmonary episode, but she woke up after the first few episodes. As she was still in recovery, Maxine was named the conservator of her estate over Robert, giving her access to the entire Dellacorte fortune. Norma made progress in Palm Royale episode 6 when she stood up for the first time and said her first clear word since waking up.
In Palm Royale episode 9, season 1’s penultimate episode, Norma revealed to Robert that she had a plan for the finale, though she didn’t share with him what it was. The season 1 finale will see all the Palm Royale characters gather for Norma’s famous Beach Ball. Despite all the ups and downs Maxine has faced, it appears as though she’ll actually be able to pull off the Beach Ball and etch her name into Palm Beach high society history. Yet, Norma’s plan threatens to ruin not just the party but also threaten Maxine’s life.
Norma Is Trying To Kill Maxine In The Palm Royale Finale
Norma Has Almost Succeeded In Her Plan
Norma always hated Maxine in Palm Royale. She believed that Maxine tricked her nephew Douglas into marrying her by claiming she was pregnant, when in reality, she lost the baby just before the wedding. Due to this, Norma planned to leave her estate to a charity when she passed instead of Douglas and Maxine. However, despite Norma’s wishes, Maxine has found a way to use and keep the Dellacorte fortune at every turn, particularly with the conservatorship.
Since Norma woke up and found her gun in Palm Royale episode 6, she has made multiple attempts on Maxine’s life. At first, she tried to poison Maxine’s drink, then she tried to shoot her following Skeet’s funeral. When that failed, she pushed her overboard at the end of Palm Royale episode 7, only for an astronaut to save her. In Palm Royale episode 9, Norma poisoned Maxine’s drink again, only for Ann to drink it instead, accidentally hospitalizing her. After multiple failed attempts, Norma has a bigger plan for Maxine in the Palm Royale finale.

A Flashforward Scene Shows Maxine Survives
Someone Else Could Die In The Palm Royale Finale
Despite Norma’s best efforts, she will continue to be unsuccessful in killing Maxine. Palm Royale episode 1 opened with Maxin’s narration, with her talking to an unknown person about her story. This person is likely a detective, as she is spilling all the secrets of Palm Beach, many of which include criminal activity. Maxine being able to tell her story means she has to survive the Palm Royale finale, but that doesn’t mean everyone will make it to the end of the series.
At the end of Palm Royale episode 1, there was a flashforward to multiple scenes from the next nine episodes. One of these scenes showed someone, likely Norma, holding a gun. As this scene hasn’t occurred yet, it has to be in the Palm Royale finale. Douglas and Linda’s Palm Royale backstory revolved around an accidental shooting, and Norma could repeat history by injuring or killing someone else while aiming for Maxine.
