Nolan’s Oppenheimer Set Photos Reveal New Look At Emily Blunt’s Character

Photos from the set of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer offer a new look at Emily Blunt’s character in the upcoming biopic. Following a long-running history in the thriller and sci-fi genre with blockbusters such as Inception and Interstellar, Nolan is dipping his toe into more biographical projects as the director gears up to tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, otherwise known as the “father of the atomic bomb.” Oppenheimer marks Nolan’s most recent film following 2020’s Tenet which bombed at the box office, hindered by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oppenheimer will see a mixed bag of some of Hollywood’s biggest names come together to tell the story of the theoretical physicist’s involvement with the Manhattan Project during World War II. Following a string of appearances within Nolan’s previous projects, Cillian Murphy will star as Oppenheimer himself, while Blunt is set to play his wife, Kitty. The likes of Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr, Kenneth Branagh, Gary Oldman, Matt Damon, Rami Malek, Jack Quaid, James D’Arcy, Dane DeHaan, David Dastmalchian, and Matthew Modine will also star.

Now, new photos have emerged from the set of Oppenheimer which offer a look at Blunt’s character sporting a navy blue ensemble. The images were shared by The Daily Mail, with another photo glimpsing Murphy’s Oppenheimer dressed in a three-piece suit and looking incredibly true to the time period. The images appear to show both stars in between scenes, as Blunt can be seen enjoying a drink, having changed into some comfortable footwear. See the images by clicking on the link below:

The full extent of Blunt’s role within the film remains to be seen, but with a variety of photos having previously been captured of the star during filming, it’s fair to say that Blunt is likely to have a considerable role to play. In true Nolan style, Oppenheimer has been shrouded in mystery from the very start aside from its impressive cast list, with only one official image of Murphy’s lead character having been released so far. Production officially kicked off earlier this year, with a number of photos since leaked from the set which have provided small glimpses at Pugh, Damon, and Downey’s characters.

Since Oppenheimer marks Blunt and Nolan’s first collaboration, there is certainly a chance that the star could reappear in some of the director’s future films as it’s certainly not unusual for Nolan to cast the same actors across his various projects. With a call-sheet as long as Oppenheimer‘s it remains to be seen just how each of these characters ultimately plays into the film’s central plot surrounding Oppenheimer’s scientific pursuits. However, boasting a cast of such great renown can only bode well for Oppenheimer when it eventually makes its way to theatres on July 21, 2023.
