No Way Home Star’s New Vampire Dramedy Picked Up By Hulu & Amazon

Hulu and Amazon have acquired streaming rights for the upcoming Syfy dramedy Reginald the Vampire, which will star Jacob Batalon, known for his role as Ned in the most recent Spider-Man movies. Batalon’s performance as Peter Parker’s best friend in Spider-Man: No Way Home was well-received and his comic relief helped to bring the franchise’s characteristic playfulness to the smash box office hit. Lately, Batalon has been busy acting in a new television role set in the world of the supernatural in this new 10-part series.

Variety reports that Hulu has acquired the second-window U.S. streaming rights for Reginald the Vampire. Meanwhile, Amazon snagged streaming rights in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Cineflix Rights has agreed to handle international distribution and will be coming to Cannes’ MipTV market with the series in tow. The show is based on the “Fat Vampire” novel series by Johnny B. Truant.

Batalon will play a newly-minted vampire navigating the bizarre world he now finds himself in. He discovers his new powers throughout this transformation, which help him as he faces threats on his life. All the while, he’ll also be dealing with personal problems of unrequited love and an overbearing boss. The series is co-produced by Modern Story and one of its Partners, Harley Peyton (Twin Peaks), will showrun. Reginald the Vampire is expected to premiere in the summer on Syfy.
