The first boss of No More Heroes 3 is Mr. Blackhole, who is the easiest alien on the Galactic Superhero rankings. If Travis Touchdown can defeat him, then the planet Earth has a chance against its alien invaders.
The first two No More Heroes games featured human antagonists, as Travis was fighting assassins. In No More Heroes 3, the enemies are aliens, who have come to take over the planet by force. Travis needs to defeat the aliens one by one and climb the Galactic Superhero rankings, in order to get a shot at their leader and save the world.
How To Defeat Mr. Blackhole in No More Heroes 3
The first boss in No More Heroes 3 is Mr. Blackhole, who mostly exists to teach the player the basics of combat and the timing of Travis’ movement, as dodging is an important part of the fight. Although there is nothing too difficult about this boss fight, his gimmick is creating portals and attacking Travis from different dimensions, so the player needs to stay on their toes the whole time.
Phase 1: During the first phase of the battle, Mr. Blackhole will cycle through several different moves. He will vanish and use an attack that causes three portals to appear, punching through each one. Dodge all three punches and run back to attack the arm after the third one, as it will remain outside for a few seconds. If large portals appear, then Mr. Blackhole will fly across the screen. Watch out for the blue beams that signify his passage and be ready to dodge them. Once he has flown across the screen three times, he will appear in the air and slam into the ground for an AoE attack. Just dodge out of the way and run back in for a few hits. If Mr. Blackhole is out in the real world, then run in for hits and dodge as soon as he screams, as he’s about to perform another shockwave AoE around his body. Use the dropkick move as much as possible for extra damage and a few seconds of stunlock.
Phase 2: Mr. Blackhole will summon lots of portals on the ground. Avoid these at all costs, as Travis will get dragged in and receive a ton of damage. The mini portal will add several more punches, so just keep dodging and return for hits when it stops. He adds a massive shockwave to his repertoire, which flys out along the ground and hits like a truck. Be ready to dodge in the direction of Mr. Blackhole, as this will give Travis more landing room. If Travis has Henshin Mode, use it to fire missiles and deal a ton of damage. Once Mr. Blackhole is defeated in No More Heroes 3, Travis will enter his “Universe”. Just follow the cat into the different portals and strike his head.
Phase 3: Travis will fight Mr. Blackhole in his Henshin form. Don’t even bother dodging his projectiles. Just keep flying left and spam the laser cannon/missiles to take him down.
