Nintendo Direct September 2021: What To Expect

Nintendo Direct September 2021: What To Expect

Rumors of a Nintendo Direct for September 2021 have been circulating for a while, but Nintendo finally confirmed a Direct for September 23, 2021. Beginning at 3 pm PT/6 pm ET, the presentation will focus primarily on games releasing this winter. However, based on previous rumors and alleged leaks, there may be a few surprises in store. Here’s what fans can most likely expect from tomorrow’s Nintendo Direct.

Two of the biggest rumors ahead of the Nintendo Direct involve the N64. Several notable insiders and leakers have suggested N64 games will be arriving as part of the Nintendo Switch Online service. Additionally, a new Switch controller is allegedly in the works, according to a recent patent, that may resemble the N64’s, perhaps to coincide with N64 games arriving on the console. None of this has been officially confirmed by Nintendo, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for during the Direct.

Game Boy and Game Boy Color games have also been rumored to come to Switch soon, so the announcement may not be strictly for N64 games. As typical for Nintendo Directs, rumors of a new Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter reveal have also gained a lot of traction. Since this will be the final DLC fighter coming to the game, fans’ hype is especially high. The September Direct seems like a great place to announce this, with a typical Mr. Sakuari Presents likely debuting at a later date in the near future.

What Games May Be Revealed At The Nintendo Direct (September 2021)

Nintendo Direct September 2021: What To Expect

Since the presentation is focusing on games releasing on Nintendo Switch the rest of this year, it’s highly probably Metroid Dread and Mario Party Superstars will appear – since both of those games are releasing soon in October. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are releasing in November, but have gotten a lot of footage already; however, a reminder about the upcoming games may still be featured.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has also been heavily rumored up until this point, and multiple alleged leaks have pointed toward its development and impending reveal. This September’s Nintendo Direct seems like an ideal place to announce it, now that updates for tentpoles like Breath of the Wild‘s sequel and Pokémon Legends: Arceus have recently had their time in the spotlight. A major Animal Crossing update has been confirmed to be in the works by Nintendo, and fans have been asking for one for a long time, so this Nintendo Direct seems like a likely place for this announcement as well.

As with most Nintendo Directs, some surprises are surely in store for viewers. However, given what’s on the slate of releases for the rest of the year already – along with copious rumors and alleged leaks – these games and updates make the most likely announcements for fans to expect. Thankfully, the wait is almost over since the next Nintendo Direct is tomorrow.
