Nightwing vs Deathstroke Decides Who Will Replace the Justice League

Warning! Spoilers for Dark Crisis #2 by DC Comics

The Death of the Justice League is coming to DC Comics, as Nightwing and Deathstroke will fight to determine who will rise from the ashes amidst a new Dark Crisis. In a new preview for Dark Crisis #2, Nightwing and Deathstroke fight in front of Titans Tower as a rowdy crowd of heroes and villains cheer them on. The battle teases the dark reality that will be born out of the deaths of DC’s greatest heroes.

The Death of the Justice League will unfold in Justice League #75 from Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, and Alejandro Sánchez, where the superteam will take on the Great Darkness and a Dark Army and ultimately lose. The fight will result in the deaths of the entire team except for one member, as a group of legacy heroes, including Jon Kent’s Superman, Yara Flor’s Wonder Girl, and Jackson Hyde’s Aquaman, will take over spots on the Justice League. Following The Death of the Justice League, a Dark Crisis will break out in the DC Comics universe, where the new superteam will face off against a threat that wants to destroy everything and everyone.

In a new cover for Dark Crisis #2 by Daniel Sampere, Deathstroke and Nightwing fight in front of a fiery crowd at Titans Tower. It seems the two DC Comics characters are battling it out to decide who will take the lead in replacing the Justice League. The crowd features several cameos in silhouettes, as Damian Wayne, Beast Boy, and Respawn are among those who appear to be watching the fight.

With the DC Comics universe getting plunged into chaos following the Death of the Justice League, the heroes, and villains who survived don’t seem to be seeing eye-to-eye on how to replace the group or take on those causing the new Dark Crisis. Nightwing and Deathstroke have a history together, so they may be representing a faction of survivors as their battle could determine who will lead going forward.

The Death of the Justice League will shake up the DC Universe in unpredictable and unforeseen ways, with the ensuing Dark Crisis giving heroes little time to adjust to their new roles. However, with Deathstroke and Nightwing fighting it out in a world without its greatest heroes, it’s clear a new normal is about to be established. Dark Crisis #2 from DC Comics by Joshua Williamson, Daniel Sampere, and Alejandro Sanchez arrives in comic book stores and online retailers in July 2022.
