Night Court Season 2 Clip Shows Big Bang Theory Alum Joining Popular Original Series Characters

Another The Big Bang Theory alum is joining Night Court to be a member of an original series fan-favorite family. NBC’s revival of the hit sitcom maintains its connection with the past, regularly bringing back familiar characters from its predecessor. Spearheaded by Melissa Rauch, who is no stranger to network sitcoms, the Night Court season 2 revival is once again tapping into her The Big Bang Theory history with the addition of a former co-star from the Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady-created comedy.

In a new exclusive clip from Collider, Kate Micucci is debuting in Night Court season 2, episode 11, “Wheelers of Fortune,” as Carol Ann, the grown-up daughter of Bob and June Wheeler from the original series. In the new promotional video, Brent Spiner and Annie O’Donnell return as the couple seeking out the help of Abby. It opens with the pair covered in feathers and struggling to find a place for their sheep. They reach out to Abby to babysit Carol Ann, but in reality, they are hoping to convince Abby to donate one of her kidneys.

Previously, both Rauch and Micucci starred in The Big Bang Theory as Bernadette and Lucy. While the former became a series regular from season 4 onwards after starring in a recurring guest role, the latter, on the other hand, was a regular presence for a while playing one of Kunal Nayyar’s Raj’s many girlfriends throughout The Big Bang Theory‘s 12-season run on CBS. One of Lucy’s signature traits was her debilitating social anxiety, which prevented Raj from properly introducing her as his girlfriend to the Pasadena gang. Ultimately, the pair broke up.

Had things gone down differently, however, the Lucy actress could have been part of the sitcom’s core ensemble. Micucci almost played Amy Farrah Fowler in The Big Bang Theory, but the role was eventually awarded to Mayim Bialik. Considering that both Bernadette and Amy were promoted to be series regulars in season 4 as Howard and Sheldon’s love interests, respectively, Rauch and Micucci could have worked more closely together in The Big Bang Theory before their upcoming reunion in Night Court season 2.

Kunal Nayyar makes his debut in Night Court season 2 as fashion designer Martini Toddwallis, which references his final The Big Bang Theory role.

Interestingly, Micucci’s upcoming introduction follows Nayyar’s Night Court season 2 appearance as Martini Toddwallis. It’s uncertain if Carol Ann’s story will be resolved in the same episode, but if her parents’ return is any indication, it’s safe to say that she will eventually come back. The series just needs another solid narrative for her inevitable reunion with Abby.
