The Boogeyman Contributed To A Successful Year for Horror

New Stephen King Movie Adaptation Gets Streaming Release Date

The Boogeyman was met with moderate success when it hit theaters this past June. The Boogeyman grossed $67.3 million worldwide, surpassing its estimated $35 million budget. Furthermore, The Boogeyman had the best opening weekend for a King-based film since 2019’s The Shining sequel Doctor Sleep. With a modest following already, The Boogeyman’s streaming debut will give it the chance to reach more audiences.

The Boogeyman was positively received by many viewers, making it another strong entry in what has been a successful year for horror. 2023 horror releases started with the campy, darkly funny M3GAN. Since then, other prominent titles in horror have included A24’s Talk To Me, Infinity Pool, Evil Dead Rise, and Scream VI. Including both franchise films and indie gems like The Booogeyman, 2023 has thoroughly cemented itself as a standout year for horror.

Viewers will have a lot to look forward to as spooky season ramps up. In addition to The Boogeyman, fall 2023 will see the release of Disney’s Haunted Mansion and a new TV series adaptation of Goosebumps. Hulu’s Huluween will also include the release of American Horror Story season 12, which kicks off on September 20. With so many titles on the slate, streaming viewers can soon enjoy The Boogeyman and much more.
