New Star Wars Audiobook Announcement Provides Evidence For A Two-Year-Old Fallen Jedi Theory

Star Wars may finally be confirming a two-year-old theory regarding a fallen Jedi during the age of the High Republic. Although this period set hundreds of years before the prequel trilogy was once an age of peace and prosperity, darkness has crept the closer the High Republic books and comics get to the events of the Skywalker saga. To that end, a new Star Wars audiobook is teasing the fall of none other than Jedi Master Keeve Trennis.

As announced by StarWars.com, Cavan Scott’s new audiobook Tempest Breaker is set to be released on December 3rd, 2024. This book will continue the adventures of the former Nihil Tempest Runner Lourna Dee who’s currently partnered with Jedi Master Keeve Trennis and her fellow rogue Jedi as seen in Scott’s ongoing Phase III High Republic comics with Marvel. However, new art for the audiobook suggests that Keeve may go even further than defying the will of the Jedi Council by leaving the Order completely:

As pointed out by X user @camandfilm, Keeve’s Jedi Order symbol has been torn from her robes. Not only does this tease a dark turn for Keeve, but it also implies the confirmation of a major Keeve Trennis theory which fans have had since she was introduced back in 2021.

The theory that Keeve Trennis has essentially been doomed to leave the Jedi Order originates before her debut in Cavan Scott’s initial High Republic Phase I comics series. Back in 2019, Scott wrote Dooku: Jedi Lost which revealed new insights into Dooku’s own departure from the Jedi Order as he became one of the Lost Twenty, those who’ve cut ties with the Jedi throughout its history. In this book, it was also revealed that a Jedi with the last name Trennis was one of the Lost Twenty as well.

While no direct connection has been made between the two names as the same Jedi, it can’t be a coincidence that Scott would introduce Keeve Trennis two years later in his High Republic works, a recently elevated Jedi Master who’s gradually been defying the Jedi Council more and more during Phase III. Considering the torn Jedi symbol from her robes, it does seem as though the story of Keeve’s Jedi fall will be told sooner rather than later.
