New Silent Hill Game Gets Title & Age Rating (& It May Be A Demo)

A mysterious new Silent Hill game has been given an age rating in Korea, although there’s been no official announcement of it. Konami’s seminal survival-horror series has not received a new entry in ten years, leading many to believe that Konami had simply abandoned the IP along with its many other popular video game properties. The last time Silent Hill was seen in the video game space was in 2015, when P.T. was infamously de-listed and Silent Hills was canceled.Rumors of a new Silent Hill game have been flying for years as fans have searched for any hint of the series’ return. All the supposed leaks and resulting speculation have reached a fever pitch in recent months, with sources saying there will be a Silent Hill reveal in September. Although that window of time is closing fast, the parallels between the different sources make it look increasingly likely that Konami is planning something big for Silent Hill – and that it may unveil those plans sooner rather than later.Related: Original Silent Hill Is Being Remade In Unreal Engine 5The most substantial indication comes from Gematsu, which spotted a Korean age rating for a new Silent Hill title. In a listing of ratings for upcoming games, The Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea has rated something called Silent Hill: The Short Message, which has not yet been announced. The listing does not specify any platforms, but it does confirm that the publisher is UNIANA. UNIANA has published a number of Konami games in Korea, including Konami’s notoriously unfinished eFootball 2022.

New Silent Hill Game Rating Corroborates Previous Leaks

The subtitle of The Short Message roughly lines up with Silent Hill leaks from earlier this year, which included the names “Anita” and “Maya” as well as mentioning “SMS messages.” Those leaks were accompanied by images from a Silent Hill project purportedly in development, and those images were quickly taken down after Konami issued a copyright notice. Leakers also claimed that it was just one of three Silent Hill titles that Konami is currently working on, one of which was purported to be a short experience reminiscent of P.T., Silent Hills‘ playable demo.

As fans put more and more of the Silent Hill pieces together, an official reveal seems almost inevitable. Even the director of the Silent Hill movie updated fans in an interview, saying that Konami was relaunching the series, including Bloober Team’s rumored Silent Hill 2 remake, and that his new Silent Hill film would be part of it. He also stated that he plans to release the film in 2023, so it sounds like Konami will have to unveil the truth in the near future.
