New On Paramount+: All 113 Movies & TV Shows Arriving In September

Paramount+ has plenty of new TV shows and movies coming in September 2023, including classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles content to tie into the studio’s theatrical release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Paramount+ launched in March 2021 as a rebranding of the CBS All Access streaming platform, with the goal of expanding its offerings and reach. Thanks to the re-merger between CBS and Viacom in 2019, Paramount+ also has access to Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, and MTV libraries.

Unlike some of its competitors, Paramount+ has not put an emphasis on original movie programming except in the case of children’s films. However, the streaming service does have a popular lineup of exclusive original series, including the multiple-timeline and decade-spanning Yellowstone franchise. Properties are constantly being added to or taken out of the streamer’s library, however, and it’s not always easy to keep the collection straight. To help, here is a guide to everything new on Paramount+ in September 2023.

The first of the month is usually the biggest day of library content additions to streaming platforms. That means movies and TV shows that aren’t necessarily originals or exclusives for the platform, but are releases from years past that the streamer will have for a limited time. Some of the library releases will leave at the end of the month, while others might end up on the platform for several months. In September, Paramount+ adds a lot of new library movies to the platform on the first, and there’s a great mix of movies.

Horror fans have the Mimic movies, while rom-com fans have modern classics like How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. There are also great dramedies like The First Wives Club and classic action movies like Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Just watching the library additions could keep a Paramount+ subscriber occupied for the entire month, but the rest of September also features a lot of TV show additions for the platform.

September 6

The Naked Brothers Band performs on a rooftop
  • RENO 911! (Season 7)
  • The Naked Brothers Band (Seasons 1-3)

Though The Naked Brothers Band was aimed at the tween set when it originally aired on Nickelodeon, those wanting to catch it on Paramount+ are likely going to be streaming for the nostalgia factor. Parents might even want to introduce their kids to the show, which features Nat and Alex Wolff as band members and kids just trying to deal with their lives changing while they become famous.

The other September 6 addition to Paramount+ is the satirical RENO 911! Season 7. The show parodies documentary-style law enforcement shows, like the classic COPS. Season 7’s 25 episodes were originally available to stream on Quibi as a continuation of the series when it was canceled.

September 7

Several animated characters from Star Trek Lower Decks are centered in the cropped season 4 poster
  • NFL Slimetime (Season 3 Premiere)
  • Star Trek: Lower Decks (Season 4) Premiere

NFL Slimetime is Nickelodeon’s version of an NFL recap show for kids. The series will air weekly on Nickelodeon and Paramount+, and each week, it uses comic strips, slime, and celebrity competitions to recap the previous week’s football games and best plays.

In addition to the premiere of Slimetime, the animated Star Trek: Lower Decks will also premiere on September 7. Star Trek fans will be treated to the first two episodes on premiere day. Episodes will follow weekly after that.

The title card for Football Must Go On is overlaid rubble in Ukraine and street art of the soccer team
  • Football Must Go On (Premiere)

Football Must Go On is a unique sports documentary. It doesn’t simply follow a team in a single season of a sport. While it does that, the team it’s following is the football team for Ukraine, and the docuseries does so while the country is embroiled in a war with Russia. The four-part series follows the Ukranian team while they play across Europe, but can’t play in their war-torn homeland because it’s under attack. Instead, they play in the very same stadiums that are acting as home to Ukranian refugees fleeing the country in some cases.

September 13

The title card for Black in America on BET features Black individuals under a parasol, under a flag, in a music video, and welcoming a new baby
  • America in Black (Season 1)

Originally airing on BET, America In Black is one of the library series being added to Paramount+ in September. The series runs in the form of a news magazine that highlights Black voices in Black communities in America. Featuring reporters, journalists, and TV personalities like Gayle King, Marc Lamont Hill, and Ed Gordon, the series splits its time between discussions of hard-hitting news and black voices in the entertainment industry. America In Black originally began airing in February on BET with an episode a month, so there are already several completed to join the Paramount+ lineup.

September 14

Four men in suits at a funeral in Buddy Games Spring Awakening
  • Buddy Games: Spring Awakening (2023)

The sequel to Buddy Games, this buddy-comedy features a group of friends reuniting to honor the loss of one of their own. The group usually competes in a series of increasingly ridiculous dares when they get together, but this time around, they find themselves pitted against a much younger generation on Spring Break – the very place they first gave birth to their idea of the “buddy games.” The group, which features Josh Duhamel and James Roday Rodriguez end up encountering one obstacle after another on their road trip.

September 17

Character faces on gold bars for the limited BBC series Gold
  • The Gold (2023 Limited Series)

Inspired by a true story, The Gold tells the story of the biggest gold heist in the history of Britain, the 1983 Brinks Mat robbery. The robbery was investigated for decades after it occurred. The series originally aired on BBC One in Britain in February 2023, but Paramount+ is bringing it to an international audience. Hugh Bonneville and Dominic Cooper are among the stars.

September 18

Sean Penn walks with President Zelensky in Ukraine
  • Superpower (2023)

Superpower is set to be a fascinating documentary and an exclusive for Paramount+. Initially, actor Sean Penn set out to interview Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky about how someone goes from being a comedic actor to being a political leader. While working on the documentary, however, Penn was witness to Ukraine being invaded by Russia, and the focus of the documentary took a turn. For two years (and seven trips to Ukraine), Penn and his team have worked on documenting Zelensky’s work as a leader in Ukraine to create this documentary.

September 19

The 1987 animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles standing in the sewer
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) (Seasons 1-2)

Though there are 10 seasons of the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, only the first two will become available to stream on Paramount+ in September. Paramount+ is slowly adding a lot of classic Ninja Turtles content to the platform as they are the official home for the characters. There is a planned series spinning out of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem movie on the way as well, but the classic Turtles shows set the stage. The 1987 series is largely responsible for the rise in popularity of the characters in a kid-friendly story instead of the original dark comic books.

September 20

Joe in his plumber uniform talking to two people in Average Joe
  • Average Joe (Season 1)
  • Cursed Friends (2022)
  • Ice Airport Alaska (Seasons 2-3)
  • It’s Pony (Season 2)
  • Pet Sematary (2019)
  • The Surreal Life (2022) (Season 1)

There is a large variety of new shows and movies on Paramount+ on September 20. Dramas, reality TV, and even horror are in the lineup. Average Joe, a popular BET series, is one of the most exciting additions. It features a plumber discovering his father stole millions after his death and having to figure out what his father did with it. Pet Sematary also provides a new take on a Stephen King classic, while The Surreal Life puts several celebrities into a house and has a camera crew follow them around. Among the cast of the show are Kim Coles and Frankie Muniz.

September 27

All of the Chippettes and Chipmunks buckled into one big seat in a car in Alvinnn and the Chipmunks
  • ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks (Season 5)

Alvin and the Chipmunks have been stars of movies and animated series off and on since the 1980s. This modern take on the story sees their guardian Dave not only raising them but also raising the Chippettes. The Chipmunks and the Chippettes also happen to be famous recording artists, making raising them extra challenging. The computer-animated series is a musical as a result, and the fifth season being added to Paramount+ is the last of the series that has been produced.

Though the series was initially renewed for a sixth and seventh season in 2019, those seasons have yet to come to fruition. Once completed, they could eventually make their way to Paramount+ as well.

Throughout the month of September, Paramount+ also offers new content that is only available when subscribing to the Showtime bundle. Of course, if the new movies and TV shows on Paramount+ aren’t enough content for subscribers, Paramount also adds live sporting and news coverage on a regular basis. The content available depends on the playing schedules.
