New ‘Muppets’ Posters Showcase Fan Favorites

The Muppets are coming back to theaters this holiday season, brining their irreverent brand of comedic hijinks back to all  those many, many fans who have missed seeing Jim Henson’s famous puppets on the big screen – or really anywhere besides in a Disney theme park or the occasional YouTube video.

Today we have new posters for the Muppets’ new movie, featuring those same characters you know in love from either the classic Muppet Show or the Muppet Babies cartoon.

Here’s the synopsis for The Muppets’ latest movie adventure:

On vacation in Los Angeles, Walter, the world’s biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary (Jason Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams) from Smalltown, USA, discover the nefarious plan of oilman Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) to raze the Muppet Theater and drill for the oil recently discovered beneath the Muppets’ former stomping grounds. To stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon Ever and raise the $10 million needed to save the theater, Walter, Mary and Gary help Kermit reunite the Muppets, who have all gone their separate ways.

Segel co-wrote the film along with Forgetting Sarah Marshall / Get Him to the Greek director Nicholas Stoller – James Bobin (writer/director of Flight of the Conchords) is directing. There will also be a whole lot of celebrity cameos – but you’ll have to see the movie to catch them ;-).

The Muppets will be in theaters on November 23, 2011.
