New Movie Media: ‘Conan’, ‘Let Me In’, ‘Megamind’ and More

Those that found themselves detained by family barbecues and fireworks over the 4th of July holiday need not fear – we here at Screen Rant have assembled the latest Conan image, as well as posters for Let Me In, Megamind, and Piranha 3D for you to peruse through at your leisure.

First, we have a new promo image from Lionsgate’s remake of Conan the Barbarian – now just Conan – with Jason Momoa (Stagate: Atlantis) replacing Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role of the titular muscle-bound warrior.  Joining Momoa will be stars Rose McGowan (Grindhouse), Ron Perlman (Hellboy), and Stephen Lang (Avatar), with Friday the 13th remake director Marcus Nispel at the helm.

This new image of Conan in fighting form (see below) is less than impressive, what with its airbrushed digital look and fake CG background.  The previous Conan image had more of a gritty, harsh edge to it, but this pic looks more like something from a poor man’s 300 or the cable TV show Spartacus: Blood & Sand.

Next, there’s a new poster for the vampire horror film Let Me In, director Matt Reeve’s Americanized remake of the Swedish flick/novel Let the Right One In.  If you have not yet caught the Let Me In trailer, you should – it actually looks like it could potentially be a decent coming of age tale-meets-dark monster thriller. You know – everything that Twilight isn’t. 😉

You can check out the new one-sheet for the movie below:

Horror will take on a different shape at the end of this summer with Piranha 3D.  The film stars Elisabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Christopher Lloyd, and Richard Dreyfuss as a group of strangers who must band together to prevent the population of their summer resort town from being eaten by a newly-unleashed pack of flesh-eating, prehistoric fish.

Chances are you remember that Dreyfuss first took on man-eating fish back in the 1975 blockbuster Jaws.  Well, it looks like the Piranha marketing crew thought of that iconic horror flick too, as the film’s French poster (see below) is more than a bit reminiscent of the iconic one-sheet for Steven Spielberg’s classic shark tale.

Cheap rip-off or clever homage?  You decide.

Finally, comedian Will Ferrell and star Brad Pitt will square off in 3D animated form this November in the supervillain/hero flick Megamind.  If you’ve gone to any family-friendly movies of late, then you’ve probably seen the film’s second trailer by now and you have an inkling about how the rivalry between the blue-skinned Megamind (Ferell) and his slick-haired nemesis Metro Man (Pitt) very much riffs on the Superman mythology – among other archetypes and clichés of the superhero genre.

Ferrell and Pitt’s characters are the focus of this new poster for the movie, which you can have a look at below.  Hopefully, the battle between them for world domination/salvation will be entertaining as well.
