The Flash running in DC Comics

Absolute Power is DC’s forthcoming summer crossover event. Over a year in the making, Absolute Power will see Amanda Waller, who has long had testy relations with the superhuman community, unveil her endgame. Teaming with the Brainiac Queen and Failsafe, Waller plans to unleash chaos on Earth’s metahumans. While Waller’s exact reasons for this campaign have yet to be revealed, it will involve an army of Amazos, and the potential reunion of the Justice League. Absolute Power will feature many tie-ins that expand the story further.

While Absolute Power is still a few months away, Waller’s plan is already in full force, and her treatment of the Flash in this issue is proof. The Flash’s powers, which are currently in flux, make him a huge threat to Waller’s agenda. Waller’s new edict, that no speedsters use their powers, will no doubt be broken by the next issue. This will then give Waller the “in” she needs to really escalate the amount of force used on the Flash Family. Waller will walk over anyone who gets in the way of her plan, even the Flash.

DC's the Flash

The Flash is no stranger to “outlaw” status. Shortly before his death, Barry Allen was framed for the murder of Iris by the Reverse-Flash. Barry’s name was cleared, and it proved that Flash was willing to work outside the law if need be. Amanda Waller’s anti-metahuman agenda must be stopped, and may take extreme measures. Someone willing to skirt the edges of the law, which Waller will no doubt use to her advantage, is just what the heroes need. The Flash may just be the hero for the job.
