New Iron Man 2 Posters, Videos & Possible Avengers Cameo

We haven’t got long to go before we get to see Tony Stark back as the iron clad superhero, Iron Man, in Jon Favreau’s sequel to the 2008 hit blockbuster. Today we have some more items to wet your appetite even further for the sequel: we have four new international posters, three new videos (including a behind-the-scenes featurette and two TV spots), and news on a possible “Easter egg” scene after the end credits.

First off, let’s take a look at these new Iron Man 2 posters. They feature most of the main cast members – sans Robert Downey Jr, for some reason: Mickey Rourke (as villain Whiplash), Gwyneth Paltrow (as Tony Stark’s faithful assistant, Pepper Potts), Don Cheadle (replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey/War Machine) and Scarlett Johansson (as the Black Widow).

A scene from the first full Iron Man 2 clip

Next up let’s take a look at the three new Iron Man 2 videos that have appeared online. The first is a behind-the-scenes featurette from Entertainment Tonight, the second is a Chinese TV spot [sorry for the error earlier] and the third is a Spanish TV spot. Check them out below:

Moving on from the Iron Man 2 videos we have some rather exciting news for you: According to Badtaste.it (via /Film) there will be another “hidden” scene after the end credits of Iron Man 2, just like there was in the first Iron Man with Tony Stark meeting Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson). But what will this new hidden scene be and who will it feature? Are you ready for it? Here’s what Badtaste.it says (thanks to /Film for translating):

“A 100% trusted source (NOT from the production/distribution, but very familiar with the movie) confirmed us today that there will be an easter egg in IM2. It’s an extra scene, just like the one in the first movie, after the end credits. We are able to tell you what’s about! It’s a scene about… Captain America and Thor! Maybe this doesn’t seem a big reveal, but it’s nice to have a confirmation.”

That’s right, if this report is true then we MIGHT be seeing the First Avenger and the thunder god Thor make appearances in Iron Man 2 before their own individual movies and before they all team up for The Avengers. I guess it’s not all that surprising news but it’s certainly something to be excited about (again, IF THIS IS TRUE).

Captain America The Avengers Joe Johnston

One big question this raises with regards to Captain America in particular is how are they going to get Chris Evans into that Iron Man 2 scene? It’s been less than a couple of weeks since Evan was cast as Cap and Iron Man 2 wrapped shooting last year. So either director John Favreau will shoot the scene and add it in before next month’s release of the movie, or the scene will SUGGEST the presence of Thor and Cap in the Marvel movie universe, without actually showing them. It could go either way.

As far as Hemsworth is concerned, there’s already been speculation that Thor appears in Iron Man 2, during a sequence in which Tony Stark visits Whiplash in prison. Check out the image below and see if you think it’s the God of Thunder (or not).

What do you think of the latest posters and videos for Iron Man 2? Are you happy there will (likely) be an after-credits scene in Iron Man 2 featuring Captain America and Thor? Discuss what you think the scene could be below.

Iron Man 2 opens May 7, 2010, Thor opens May 5, 2011, The First Avenger: Captain America hits July 22, 2011 and The Avengers is scheduled to debut May 4, 2012.
