New Iron Man 2 Posters

Paramount and Marvel have released the new Iron Man 2 international poster and we have it here for you view, along with some other new posters inspired by the film.

Regarding the international poster: is it badass enough? Does it show enough (or too little)? How does it compare to the similarly styled posters that were released for the first Iron Man movie? These are all questions you guys need to answer in the comments, so we better get started!

Just in case you’ve been living in a cave somewhere (I’m told it happens these days), the plot of Iron Man 2 involves Tony Stark feeling the blow-back from his decision to reveal to the world that he is Iron Man. New villains arise in the form of armor-powered Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) and rival industrialist Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell). New heroes also rise, in the form of War Machine (Don Cheadle) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

And of course, all the action and mayhem kicks Marvel’s Avengers movie into motion. If you haven’t seen it, check out the Iron Man 2 extended trailer. Here is the Iron Man 2 international poster:

I’m not sure I like the “floating heads” layout – but then again, I’ve never been a fan of that particular poster design. I also can’t help but notice that we’re STILL getting the “early version” of Rourke’s Whiplash armor (it’s rumored there is a “finished” version) and also that the setting of the poster is the Monaco Formula 1 race track, a sequence that seemingly occurs early in the film.

Finally, this new poster seems totally reminiscent of the posters for the first Iron Man, which you can check out HERE and HERE. Judging by the end result of this latest poster, I’m not sure if imitating the style of the first film is cool, or a wasted opportunity.

Before you start in on the debate about the official international poster, have a look at these other Iron Man 2 movie posters that hit the Net. The first one is fan-made, but we haven’t yet confirmed the other two. We’ll keep you updated:

So, what did you think of the new Iron Man 2 international poster? What about the other posters we showed you? Have a particular favorite?

Personally, I’m kind of partial to the “Invincible Iron Man” one. It really does have a great tag line.

Iron Man 2 will blast into theaters on May 7, 2010.
