New Girl: 10 Things That Make No Sense About CeCe

New Girl: 10 Things That Make No Sense About CeCe

New Girl followed the lovable and quirky Jess as she moved into a new loft and met her new roommates after seeing their online ad seeking a new roommate. Jess’s life-long best friend, CeCe, becomes a part of the group quickly when Jess brings her to the new loft.

CeCe changes throughout the seasons as she begins the show as a bit of a partier who refuses to slow down and eventually realizes that she wants to settle down and she succeeds in doing so. Here are some things about CeCe throughout the show that make no sense.

Wasn’t Concerned With Jess’ New Living Situation

New Girl: 10 Things That Make No Sense About CeCe

In the pilot, Jess moves out after she finds out her boyfriend is cheating. She finds an ad on the internet and moves in with random guys she’s never met in the beginning of the show. As her best friend, CeCe should have had some concerns about this situation at the beginning, even though the guys prove to be fantastic and important in both of their lives.

Being Best Friends With Jess

Jess and Cece New Girl

Although Jess and CeCe grew up together, they’re extremely different people and their friendship doesn’t make sense on the surface.

They care for each other deeply and support each other in their lives and careers, which is how they’ve been able to keep the friendship alive, but their differing personalities make for a quirky relationship.

CeCe And Winston’s Friendship

This friendship seemed to come out of nowhere and it was a random pairing at first that didn’t seem to make sense. Although it started off as a random pairing, CeCe and Winston quickly became a fan favorite pair. The writers made a good move pairing them up for their classic Winston and CeCe mess arounds, but it still didn’t make much sense.

Becoming A Bartender

CeCe starts out the show as a model and decides that she wants to find another career and go back to school to get her degree. She quits her modeling agency and goes back to school. Nick offers her a job at the bar and she gladly takes it to help pay for school and all of her other expenses. It makes sense that she needs a job for her expenses, but she quit modeling to find her passion and jumps into bartending without having any interest in being a bartender.

Having So Much Free Time As A Model

CeCe doesn’t seem to have that busy of a schedule even though she is a successful model. New Girl only shows her going to a modeling gig once and other than that CeCe doesn’t run off to do other gigs and she’s always available to talk to Jess when she needs to talk to her. It’s odd and doesn’t make much sense because she should be busier if she’s a successful model.

Her Relationship With Schmidt

New Girl Cece Schmidt

CeCe begins a turbulent relationship with Schmidt early on in the series and she herself doesn’t think the relationship makes much sense. The two don’t click very well together and their personalities are different as they’re on again off again constantly.

Although it took them a while to get it right, Schmidt and CeCe did end up being perfect together and having a happy marriage by the end of the show.

Not Mad At Jess For Kissing Schmidt

Schmidt gets upset when he learns Nick and Jess and demands that he get to kiss Jess to even out the score. Jess reluctantly agrees and they share an awkward kiss. Jess randomly mentions this to CeCe and she doesn’t question it or become upset at all, which is odd seeing how CeCe had dated and had an emotional break up with Schmidt recently.

Being Passive-Aggressive With Jess

CeCe seems to be a very outspoken woman who is not afraid to say what’s on her mind and stand up for herself. She communicates well in her other relationships shown on the show without being very passive-aggressive, but she and Jess haven’t seemed to figure out how to communicate. When they do fight on the show, it’s because of pent up emotion and passive-aggressive tendencies from both of them.

Not Living With Jess

It’s not clear if CeCe and Jess ever lived together when they were both in Los Angeles, but it would make a lot more sense if they did room together. They were already best friends growing up and living in L.A. must be expensive. Although CeCe might pick living with the models over Jess to be able to keep up with information in her business, but that being said, once she got her footing she and Jess could have lived together.

Forgiving Schmidt

CeCe and Schmidt have a turbulent relationship throughout the series, but Schmidt ruins his chances of getting back together with CeCe when he cheats on both CeCe and another woman he is seeing. It’s a messy moment where Schmidt has a difficult time deciding who he wants to be with, and yet CeCe eventually forgives him for this. Being that CeCe is usually a no-nonsense character this move doesn’t make much sense. But, she seems to be happily married by the end of the series so it was the right choice.
