As the protagonist of the series, it was understandable that fans cheered for Jess in New Girl. Her story was intriguing to follow too, as she went through a lot of obstacles. They were needed though because, at the end of the day, they helped shape her character. She progressed immensely from the start of the series, which of course was a necessity.
Yet, some of the best moments from Jess were the ones where good things happened to her. She truly had a heart of gold, so it was important for the audience to see her be given happy moments. Her optimism and quirky personality made this much needed, as all she did for her friends made her deserve some good karma. Out of all the main characters, she arguably experienced the happiest story of the bunch.
She Moved Into The Loft
When Jess moved into the loft, it was under sad circumstances. Her long-term boyfriend, Spencer, cheated on her and she was understandably heartbroken. Yet, things quickly changed from here, as she made amazing friends from it.
The wacky adventures that took place in the loft were truly marvelous. She made lifelong connections for not only herself but the rest of the group too. This was one of the best moments for her and it originally was seen as bad because of what happened before it.
She Got Her Stuff Back From Spencer
Jess visited Spencer to get her stuff back, but it was very difficult. She had deep feelings for him still and couldn’t stand up for herself. With the help of her new roommates and Cece, she found the courage to do it.
It was fantastic to see Jess be so strong and take back what was rightfully hers. This was also very important because it was the closure she needed from that atrocious relationship. It was integral for her character development.
Nick’s Birthday Surprise For Her
Jess’s birthday may have started off bad, but Nick soon changed that. While Jess went to the movies alone, Nick planned a big surprise for her in the theater. He made a video and played it, with all of her friends in attendance.
It was such a touching video too, which helped enhance the quality of Nick’s gesture. Jess stated that it was the nicest thing anyone ever did for her, so clearly, it was one of the best moments from the series for her.
She Hung Out With Prince
Jess had the privilege of not only going to the late Prince’s house party but she also hung out with him. She was able to play ping pong and eat pancakes with him. He also let her wear a fancy dress that he happened to have.
Yet, most importantly, Prince helped her gain the courage to tell Nick that she loved him. Having a hangout with a big-time celebrity was amazing enough, but he also helped strengthen Jess and Nick’s relationship in the process.
She Quit Her Bad Teaching Job
Jess was taken advantage of by her employers, as she was far too nice. She was a spectacular teacher too, but the amount of extra work they gave her was entirely unacceptable and greatly unappreciated.
However, she finally had enough when working for Principal Cavatappi, as she used her power to make Jess do her work. It was outstanding when Jess stood up for herself though, as Principal Cavatappi was just so mean to her.
She Was Cece’s Maid Of Honor
Cece and Jess’s friendship was easily among the strongest in the series. Therefore, it made sense that Cece chose Jess as her maid of honor. It was a very important day too, as Cece finally married the love of her life, Schmidt.
As Cece’s maid of honor, Jess did so much to ensure that the wedding was a huge success. It also showed just how close that these two were at the end of the day. Thus, it was a huge moment in Jess’s story.
Sam Left Her For Diane
Jess did something truly selfless when she gave Sam the letter Diane wrote for him. She could have kept it as a secret, but she felt that it was right for Sam to know the extent of Diane’s feelings for him. In the end, Sam left Jess for Diane.
Jess took this very well, as Sam actually helped her realize that she had feelings for Nick still. Therefore, this was a great moment for Jess, as it was the first step in her and Nick getting back together. The road there was prolonged though.
She Became A Godmother
When Aly was pregnant with her and Winston’s first child, she chose Jess to be the godmother. This was truly a huge honor for Jess, as it showed how much that they trusted her with this large responsibility.
Although fans did not see Jess with this role, it was still important for her, as she was ecstatic after being chosen. It also displayed just how close her friendship with both Winston and Aly became, so overall, it was stupendous all around for her.
She Married Nick
Although they broke up, it seemed inevitable that Nick and Jess would eventually get married. Thankfully it did come into fruition, but it took time. Jess was heartbroken over Nick being with Reagan, but as soon as it ended, the pair rekindled their relationship.
In the final season, after three years of dating, the two got married and it was the perfect ending for them. They were the couple that all fans wanted to see get together again, as the show built up to it for so long.
She Built A Family
The final scene of the series showed Nick and Jess playing True American with the rest of the gang. However, it also displayed that they all had children, including Jess. It was amazing to see that Nick and Jess had a son and taught him the game.
It was disappointing that fans were not to see more of their child, but it was still awesome to know that they had one. Also, they adopted Mario of course, so they had a nice little family in the future. It was the sendoff of the series, as it showed just how happy Jess’s life became.
